I went on line to prove to my husband that we would not be able to rent a moving truck on 12 hours notice. Great, Uhaul confirmed a reservation for the truck we needed for the next day. I was proven wrong, or so we thought.

Based on the confirmed reservation, we had a family member fly in at the last minute to drive the truck for us from Michigan to Texas, where we were moving to. Next morning, no phone call informing us where to pick up the truck.

Finally I called their regional office at noon, spent 30 minutes on hold and was finally told they were trying to locate a truck. I kept calling every 3 hours, sitting on hold for 30-45 minutes, & at 6 p.m. they informed me that they would not be able to provide a truck until possibly the next day.

I asked to speak to the person's supervisor, he stated that he was the "Central Michigan" supervisor and did not have a boss. He refused to give me another name or contact number and told me that Uhaul's responsibility was only to provide equipment when that eqiupment was available. I explained what a confirmed reservation meant.

I then went on line and located the phone number of their corportate headquarters. I spoke with a person there in customer service who gave me the regional office's supervisors name and connected me to his number. It turned out that the number I was connected to was the same number I had called and the same person answered the phone. I explained that I wanted to leave a message for his supervisor, he asked my name and when I gave it to him, he said he might see that his supervisor received the message to call me.

I then called back to corporate office & spoke with someone in Public Relations. Shawn, the person, said he would follow up on this issue.

I looked up U haul's SEC corporate filings (yes folks it is a publicly traded company) and surprise! Most of the stock is owned by the Shoen family, the CEO is also "Joe" Shoen.

I will be pursuing legal action on this matter for the stress, and damages that they caused to me & my family as a result of their misleading, fraudulent business practices. It's time this company (family) understands that consumers will no longer tolerate having companies mistreat them.

A Blighted Ghost-town and State


Reno and Nevada already have a bad reputation in the national media; a talk with home insurers confirms people and businesses are fleeing Reno and Nevada.  These shocking behaviors by Reno businesses and Nevada public employees give a further black-eye to Reno and Nevada which are increasingly becoming and known as A Blighted Ghost-town and State.  The Reno U-Haul has been notorious for years for their laziness, incompetence, corrpurtion, extortion, blackmail, civil rights violations, abuses, perjury, fraud, false documents, and sewer cleanliness yet have never been held acountable for their illegal and unethical behaviors due to corruption - they pay bribes to each other and public employees.

UHAUL- a buncha thieves!

I reserved a truck on June 29, 2004 gave my credit card nummber was sked my emal addy..was told I would receive a confirmation via email. Called 2 days later ( was scheduled to move my 3 bdrm house on JULY 3rd!)was tols that there was no truck? WHAT? Was also told that Uhaul does not "gaurantee" trucks.

I called Friday a.m. was told they STILL didnt have a truck? At this point I am LIVID! not to mention having anxiety attacks... so I utilized my resources and got a truck for my move.

I get a call back from UHAUL at 3:30 tellin me that they have a truck for me for an 8 a.m. pick up on Sat! I told them for get it! I follow up on Sat a.m. speak with the manager who tells me (in a very RUDE, nastee manner) that I will be charged a $50 cancellation fee for GET THIS.. not giving them 24 hrs notice?

There was no truck for me to cancel 24 hrs prior to our conversation!!!! She also went on to say IF YOU DONT LIKE UHAULS POLICY TAKE IT UP WITH THE CORPORATE OFFICE! and slammed the phone in my ear!

I called the 800 number (thats a joke) they tell me they will elt the Regional manager for Williamsburg, VA know and that he will call me back. I HAVE YET TO HEAR from Godfrey! Um still waiting Godfrey? Cust.Svc. refused to give me a number or his last name? what is this a secret organization?

SO I have written a letter to Mr. Joe Shoen and Joan Fried, Director and Consumer Rrights and the Better Business Bureau! Get this I call for the street addres and they give me a PO Box YEAH RITE!I intend to pursue this as far as i have to!

I WILL NEVER in life use Uhaul- if I have to carry my furniture on my back.. I will before I EVER give them my business agin! Rude unprofessional THIEVES! oh and INCOMPETENT!
