I didn't know all about this company as I do now. I'm so thankful to be away from it. However out of it warren Payne gave me a 7 year old son named Christopher. Someone plz help me track this man down. It needs to be done and he needs to know what he did. It isn't fair to my son. I'm sorry if I ever had part in anyone's misery but plz help my son. It isn't his fault that his dad is a d****e bag rapist.

I worked for a magazine crew by the name of Empire Sales, Inc. Located in Sugar Hill, GA and was owned by Rick Clair. Both Rick Clair and James Clair own United Family Circulation, which has numerous crews under that umbrella (Ultimate Power Sales, Empire Sales, Inc, and many more. One has even started his own clearing hosue, named Direct Circulation, Sugar Hill, GA) for more than 5 years and I have thought for the longest time that I should write a book to tell my story. The things I saw, the places I have been, the people I have met and the things I have done.
Traveling coast to coast staying where the weather was nice enough to wear shorts every day is a great thought. I have seen bad, I have seen good and I have seen great things in my life during the "Mag Biz" days.
It all started years ago when my girlfriend at the time saw an ad "Travel, Paid 2 week training, Road Rules like atmosphere". I called and set up an interview and it was scheduled for the next day. I went to the hotel where the recruiter was located and during the interview was shown photo albums of young adults having fun, mansions, nice cars, and money, money, money! From what the recruiter told me it sounded like the easiest job that I would ever have. He said I could leave tonight for my 2 weeks of training to see how i liked it. The next day I arrived at the hotel and was greeted by a few of the crew members in a van. We loaded my luggage and were off to the hotel where the crew was staying. Once I arrived it was time to meet the crew. All 30-40 of them, young, sharp, charismatic individuals. I met the owner of the company and the manager that same night in the nightly meeting. Right off the bat, I guess I made and impression because I got along with everyone. It seemed as if time had froze! The next day we woke up early in the morning to get ready for the morning meeting.
The morning meeting was crazy, everyone was hyped up on energy drinks and motivated to make money. It was an invigorating atmosphere. After everyone got motived and gave the manager their quota for the day (sales quota) we all dispursed to seperate vans and vehicles to start selling. I went along in one van and was going to be trained by one of the sales reps for the first half of the day.
I like to think I am pretty sharp and charismatic and so I took to the job very well. I started going out on my own sooner than normal. I out sold half of the crew on my first day! I was estatic, being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to be the top salesman.

My involvement with this company began June 19, 2006. That the day I boarded the bus and headed off to Charlotte, North Carolina. I had just graduated high school less than a month before and was itching to get out of my small town in southeast Alabama. I arrived at 2 AM on the morning of the 20th and was introduced to the secretary and another girl that worked there. Everyone seemed so nice. That first day I hung around the hotel and hung out with the other two new people. Everything was party, party, party. I was taught the same scandalous canvas and I am not afraid to admit that I used it. I thought it was the best job in the world. It didn't take long for that to change.

Everything was great until about August of 2006. I traveled from North Carolina to Nashville and Memphis and Nashville again. We stayed in Washington DC for a month and went to Connecticut. I should have known things weren't right when our boss made us work in the heat wave that hit Maryland that year but I still persevered. Even after Passing out and going to the hospital.

After Connecticut we went to New Jersey and thats when my life started to fall apart. I got arrested for "identity theft" for using that same canvas. I was so scared and I was alone. They bailed me out like they said they would. What they failed to mention is that I would have to pay for everything because I didn't get arrested for something "company related". I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. I was using what I had been taught to say and yet they wouldn't pay for it. They didn't even allow me to do my probation. From there thats when everything went downhill.

After about 3 months of working there you see everyones true colors. You see the emotional and physical abuse that goes on. Sharon hits people. She shoves people. She yells and screams if you have a bad day. There were days when I would just ball my eyes out because I was too scared to go back to the hotel with no business.

Now I have to go back and say why I didn't quit right then. I had started dating my fiance a week after I started. We got engaged in October of 2006 and I couldn't have been anymore in love. I wanted to go home more than anything but they wouldn't send us home together. I went through torture from September till the end of January of 2007 when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I actually got pregnant in November but I wasn't allowed to go to the doctor to find out until i "had ten sales for the day". I was sick for 2 months and could barely eat let alone act cheerful enough to sell anything to anyone. I was miserable. I cried almost every single day because I wanted to go home. I stuck through it though because I wanted to be with Dustin.

One day I was out working on territory [thats what we called a neighborhood] and I passed out. This couple found me and called an ambulance. I was taken to the hospital. They took my blood sugar and told me it looked like I hadn't eaten in two days. Well I hadn't. Thats when I found out I was pregnant and I knew I had to go home. I didn't get back to the hotel till 3 AM and was still made to work the next day. I managed to sell 4 just because I didn't want to be yelled at too much. That night I called my mom and told her and told her I wanted to come home. I told Dustin that I was leaving and he understood.

That next morning I knocked on my bosses door and told her I wanted to go home. She got pissed and said I could. At 6 o' clock that night I was on a Greyhound Bus in Arizona about to make the 2 day trip home to Alabama. It was one of the happiest days of my life other than my daughter being born.

Three weeks later Dustin joined me and neither one of us has gone back.

I decided to write this report because about a week ago a friend of mine that used to work for the company told me that Sharon allowed the other employees to go through my stuff and get what they wanted then through it all away. I had over a thousand dollars worth of stuff. I had stuff that was priceless to me that I will never get back. I begged and begged and begged for them to send me my stuff and they never did.

Sharon is a mean spirited, money hungry, awful person.

But I do ask that when a kid like me comes to your door don't immediately turn them away. Take a second to talk to them and find out what's really going on. I can guarantee that if they don't sell a certain amount they will catch hell that night.

Hello my name is Tanya. After coming in here today I am shocked. Sharon is my sister and I am an ex-employee of Ultimate Power Sales. I am going to respond to Jack's letter first. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD BLAME A PERSON FOR ANOTHER PERSONS DEATH!!! I knew Kai when he was hired and I was there when he was let go. Kai was always nice to me and me to him. Sharon took Kai in when he had no where else to go. She made sure that he was treated good, fed, and had a roof over his head. Kai was not the best salesperson in the world, and with that being said, she did not turn her back on him. She was the only one there for him though thick and thin. He went back to Texas when he chose to, not the other way around. I do want to offer my condolences to his family for it is never easy to lose a person you love.

To blame my sister for his death is ridiculous. The people that KNEW Kai, knew that he had issues before coming on crew. I will not get into those issues for if you were his friend then you should already know. If he took his own life, then I am sure that those issues had a big part to do with it. And to me, that is very sad.

As for the commission part, they do getpaid their commission. Yes, they do have to pay for the hotels, food and whatever else they want to do. The crew does get to see their accounts every 2 weeks and at that time if they have any questions then they can ask. If their account is wrong then it will be corrected and they will see the correction in black and white. They are independent contractors with the company and get their records at the end of the year for tax purposes. Also, they do get paid every two weeks on Saturday night.

As for the court appearances they are allowed to go back to whatever town they were issued the citation if that is what they chose to do. Ultimate Power Sales does pay the tickets if the salesperson advises that they have gotten a ticket. And it is legal to sale without a permit for any town or city by the interstate commerace laws. Please make sure that you are informed of what you are talking about before you make a statement.

As for Ultimate Power Sales informing potential employers that he never worked for them is total BS. I know for a fact that that was not done. When they did call they were told exactly what is allowed to be told, by law. So make sure that you are the one on the phone when this information is being given. How do I know all this? For I was the one that worked in the office for Ultimate Power Sales during that time. The one that made sure they got paid every two weeks and made sure that they got their accounts in black and white.

As for you Heather, did you know that it is against your contract to keep the materials that belong to the company after you leave? And to think that you admitted it on here. But, I have one question. How is it that Sharon was so terrible that you stayed for a year? You know as well as I do that at anytime you could have asked for a bus ticket and one would have been provided to you with cash to make it home on. So please do not make snide remarks for something that YOU chose to do.

And last but not least, HOLLIE. Thank you for that great comment about someone who took good care of you. Did you forget to add some things in there? Like, for instance, that you lived with Sharon for 3 years as her girlfriend? That Sharon did everything in her power to make you happy? That she still supported you after the two of you broke up for what, a year or so? That after you were even married you still came to Sharon for help, when your husband could not? Bought you two cars, one of them you decided that you just had to wrap around a telephone pole? She bought you the second one just so you would get out of her life.

And as for the medical problems, would you like me to send all the doctor and hospital bills to you to pay? I do believe that when you two were living together that she did go in the hospital for the tumors. And from what I hear, from random people, I have you to thank for that one. I will leave that alone but you know what I am talking about. Maybe we should get together to catch up on old times. Yeah right.

As for the victim here, that would be Sharon, not you. Trust me what you put her though was worse than anything that she could have done to anyone else.

And then you go and write what you wrote. Oh, by the way, let me add, 4 years later. That is amazing to me. Ithink that it is about time to get over it. It just makes me wonder what your intentions were by writing that comment? Could it be, you are now being vindictive? That is the way it came across to me, considering I know the TRUE story.

As for Ultimate Power Sales, for our own reasons, we are no longer employed with them, and that includes Sharon . This will be that last comment that I will make on here. I just felt that I needed to make this statement considering what has been written here for the whole World to see.

I sure hope that anyone who reads all of the comments remembers that there is always two sides to every story, if not three.

This industry ran unchecked far too many years without a place like the internet to centralize their activities. Income that is never paid to outgoing employees is reported to the IRS and the young sellers will find they have tax burdens beyond their means. A percentage of subscriptions do clear, but the magmgrs do not appraise agents that because of circulation fullfillment, they fill these orders free of charge.

A clearinghouse is simply the location from which mgrs send along names/adresses to publishers to swell the circ numbers, thereby strengthening their position when calculating ad space charges. It is also where the "process" fee is disbursed to the induviduals who have promoted underlings to the level of mgr.,thereby keeping their hands in the pie of every order that passes thru the cash clearinghouse. These clearinghouse operators do everything in their power to separate themselves from the activities in the field-when in fact I know of no clearinghouse "operator" who does not manage an itinerate crew of their own. The cash cow available to them, no matter how long they have been in business is just to lucrative to ever walk away from. Many crew mgrs literally pocket in excess of 20,000 per wk of unreported earnings. Fact. The men behind the clearinghouses do know what is going on with their mgrs...they did, after all, promote them.

The tide is finally beginning to turn on this industry, and its long overdue. When they knock-call the police-after politely refusing their offer of goods. Please dont blame the kids, they are under extreme pressure to produce. Do not let them in...some are dangerous-the pickings for this industry dwindles by the day.Getabunch.

My name is HOllie. I worked selling magazines for almost 6 years. Its like every job it has its pros and cons. And like every job there is good companies and bad companies. I worked for United Family Circulation for about 2 years with Sharon Pallicer. I think I know the owners of the company fairly well and would like to say thay are good people. They do pay there employees. They are one of the few magazine crews that really did.On the other hand i believe the owners of the company are not aware of everything that goes on. The crew managers are responsible for giving the money to the employees like there supposed to.I think the managers are not as honest as they should be. I lived with sharon for 3 years and she is a con in every sense of the word.She is a mastermind at the manipulation of human emotion.James and Rick Clair have also been conned by her.She lied to all of us and said she had a brain tumor for years and nothing was wrong with her.She just wanted PITY!James and Rick probably still believe this nonsense. She was running a crew for them C and C marketing and decided to try another kind of sales so she befriended the good agents and sent them to athens al and told james they quit,after she sent 4 people home (the people james hired)she told james she was sick and had to go home for surgery or some bs and we went to al.Needless to say she did not succeed and went crawling back to rick and james.To my knowledge they never knew what she did.My point is dont blame the company for her shortcomings.James and Rick are good honest hardworking guys and i have alot of respect for them.They were not given anything they worked to get where they are.They also are victims of this woman.

I used to work for this company and am ashamed to tell anyone what I did. I hated working for this company, but felt trapped. I was quickly across the united states w/ no money to get home and had to continue lying to get my "sales".

I knew Kai briefly and was there when he was fired. He is not the first or last to be treated so horribly. He's not even the first to die due to this job. It's an epidemic that needs to be stopped. I have a friend in Whitney TX that was also a victim of this company for 2 years.

I wish there was something I could do to help Jack in San Antonio TX in bringing this company down. They robbed a year of my life and I am now financially ruined because there promsises of tons of money were all empty words.

Unfortunately, I also knew Warren Payne and he disgusts me. He sexually harassed me and several other girls on the "crew" repeatedly. It was non stop. I got sick of all his stories of his latest trophy. He thought he could have anyone and do whatever he wanted with them. I'd like to see him go down in flames with this company.

A real good friend of mine near and dear to my heart was suckered in by the sales crew currently known as Ultimate Power Sales #12, which is run by Sharon Yvette Pallicer of Athens, AL.

Their tactics are to brainwash their employees into believing their worth in life is directly related to the sales they make. They are suckered into believing they make 50% commission, but with fancy sales terminology and non-existant shipping charges, its more like less than 15%.

The employees are shown excerpts from the constitution and told that because they are from another state, they have no need to get permits. The law in question applies to goods being introduced to a new state from another one, and thus do not apply to widely distributed magazines. As a result, the agents are repeatedly ticketed and thrown in jail, and very rarely are allowed to make their court appearances.

They are told their tickets are paid, when in fact they are torn up and lost, making the charges become more and more severe as time goes on. When the employers are done with you, they kick you out onto the street to fend against a barrage of criminal charges you thought were cleared, some even developed into felonies in some cases.

Thats what happened to my good buddy Kai. They twisted his mind all up, even withheld his tax forms, kicking him into what was literally a pile of warrants from everywhere around the country, many deliberately from around where the employers knew he lived. They took all his possessions, all his clothes, left him with nothing. When he tried to get a job and listed his WELL over a years experience busting his balls for this company, they informed his potential employers that he was never employed by them.

He had no choice but to kill himself.

Unfortunately for Sharon Pallicer there, Kai had some friends in high places, such as me and my associates.

We are working on a plan to take down her and the company she represents for good. She is complete scum and must be stopped. According to Kai's notes, she once knowingly allowed one of her employees (Warren Payne) to RAPE a 15 year old girl in Atlanta GA, and she helped usher him out of the state because he "sold the most".

Part 1 of our plan is already in motion, taking out the market of their product. The ultimate goal is to cripple their company in one big class action lawsuit, but this step weakens their income somewhat.
