In July, I placed an order on Unclaimed Diamond's web-site. The price was thousands below retail and a steal. I placed the ring in lay-away and made a deposit through the site with my credit card.

A week later, I wanted to make a payment on my lay-away and found out that I couldn't do so on the web. I either has to my mail, in person (take a 45 minute drive into the city) or make a telephone payment with my credit card.

At the end of July, I took the drive to Philly to make the full payment and pick up my ring. When I got there, it took the staff over an hour (seriously) to find my paperwork. When they did find it, I was told that the ring was ordered when I placed my web order and that I could take up to 7-10 weeks before it arrives. I was pissed, this information isn't anywhere on their site.
Unclaimed has a lay-away policy that is non-refundable.

They only allow store credit.

At the beginning of this month (November 2005), a staff member from Unclaimed called me and asked (very rudely) "What are you gonna do about your lay-away?" I told her that if the ring wasn't there yet that I didn't want it at all.

Since the store has a no cash refund policy, I had to take out another lay-away with my store credit.
Unclaimed doesn't values customers in the least. I will never go back or refer anyone.

In responce to the report that was issued 8 years ago. We have matained

an A+ rating with the Better business bureau since 2001.

The consumer did indeed layaway an item back in july 2005  the consumer never make any other payment except the initial deposit of 20%. She never made any other payments and did not fullfill the layaway agreement which states that a payment be required every 2 weeks. She is correct that you can not make a payment on the web, however the consumer never attempted to make a payment over the phone.  she came in a month later to pick up her layaway it was not in stock as only 20% was put down and no other payments were recieved, therfore it was never ordered. We offered to order the item for her at that time or to take any other item that we currently had in stock. She accepted a alternate piece of jewelry for layaway.
