united acceptance begged to buy our contracts. said we were reliable for those who failed their first payment to them. i know for fact first payments have been made but because of following payments being delinguent, i am being harrased and told now am obligated to rebuy.

our customers were not supplied with welcome packages, which include envelopes with payment address, as was told this was part of process of changing accounts over. this created confussion and fustration.

i strongly recomend that buy-here-pay-here dealers avoid doing business with united acceptance and do some research on anyother buy your note financers.

united acceptance i know by experience is frauduent and deceiving.

This issue stems from not clearly understanding a clause in our contract with the dealer

AUTHOR: Compliance - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Clause 4.4 in the contract executed between ourselves and the dealer clearly states that the first payment received from the customer must cause the account to be current. In the case a customer with a weekly contract as an example, lets say the first payment we receive is one weekly payment four weeks after we purchased the contract. At that time the customer was due for four payments so that first payment did not get the account current which means the dealer is still on the hook for that account. The accounts Vernon refers to in his email are accounts that fell into this category. Yes we did receive payments from these customers eventually, but they were received after the customers had already billed for additional payments and they never got caught up.

In regard to welcome packets that include payments envelopes, they are automatically sent out to all new customers within 24 hours after we purchase their account. I just checked some of the accounts we purchased from Vernon on 8/21/08 and the letters were sent out the same day. We have been in this business for over 18 years and we find that new customers often say they did not receive our welcome packet when they really did. Eventhough we do try and speak to them a week or two before the purchase, many times they are still not sure what is going on and end up throwing our welcome packet away becasue they think it is junk mail. Additionally, quite few of the packets come back because perhaps we were given wrong address or maybe we are missing an apartment number. We do start calling the customers within three business days after the purchase to see if the packets have been received. If it turns out the address is wrong another packet is sent out. If the address is correct but the customer says they still have not recieved our packet after about a week then another one is sent out.

We are sorry Vernon had a bad experience with our company and that there seems to have been misunderstanding about the first payment default clause in our contract. Although it sounds like he will never do business with us again, we would certainly like him to give us another chance because the next time around we will make sure he thoroughly understands the first payemnt default clause in our contract.
