United Air Care Value Pack Coupon, Not Such a Value Norwood Massachusetts

We made an appointment with United Air based on the ValuePak coupon we got in the mail. It seemed like 44.95 to have out ducts cleaned was more than reasonable and worth the effort. The second I got on the phone with them, I was warned of additional charges for added vents and added returns. Since I knew I only had 4 vents and one return, I expected it to be a basic service, no big deal.

And then the van arrived with two guys who kept talking about my furnace, even though I was talking about my AC system and the two systems are seperate. Then he told us he would have to cut an access panel into the system's main vent for 39.95 to get the hoses through. OK. Then I left for work.

My husband calls me to tell me that now they want another 85 dollars for two extra access panels in the main vent because they can see that the system has never been cleaned and to the job properly, they need more access. They also said "sanitizing" the ducts would be extra.

This is where my husband asked them politely to finish what they came there to do and no to the extras that kept popping up. Much like others on the Rip-Off report, we fell victim to their bait and switch tactic and now have an added hole in our main vent line.

To add insult to injury, the "technician" asked my husband to sign a form - turns out it was a customer satisfaction survey! My husband actually asked the guy if he really thought he wasn't going to read what he was signing? What was he going to do - hop back in the truck and give himself a stellar performance review?

Never let these guys into your house - read-up on air duct cleaning - it is very expensive and very involved and takes hours. Beware of the Value in the ValuePak coupon!
