Returning from a recent business trip from New York's LaGuardia airport on a Saturday I learned that my Camera, memory cards and several souvenirs were stolen from my luggage. I immediately tried to contact United Airlines only to learn Customer service was closed. I then sent emails, I was basically told that they aren't liable and better luck next time as I should have contacted them within 24 hours, I stated that I did via email as their response center was closed but that wasn't good enough. I tried to phone their customer service line the next business day, Monday, only to be told by a computer that the call volume was too high and they wouldn't take my call. I escalated the matter to their corporate offices only to be told that they wouldn't help me and that their hands were free of responsibility. I can't be the only one affected by this. Someone has to make this known, I feel violated, disillusioned and disheartened that no one cares but hey, isn't it more important that big business can sleep soundly at night after sucking the souls out of the little people.

Carry Your Camera

If you are a frequent business traveller you should know better. You should never pack valuables and cameras in checked baggage. Not only the airline but also TSA can go through your stuff and the liability of the airline is minimal. All airlines tell you not to put valuables in checked baggage. "Customer Service" is non existant on all the major airlines now. Good luck.
