United Bilt Homes of Beaumont Texas ripped me and My husband off. They have lied and did not complete jobs. Tried to deliver lumber when we were under a mandatory Evacuation from Hurricane Ike. Argued with my us that they had to drop off lumber we refused. They stated they would need permission from there office to take lumber back, It was Our property after a lengthy conversation they left Hurricane Ike hit the next day.

They did return to deliver lumber a few week later they drove over our lawn and got there 18 wheeler truck stuck and dug huges ruts in our yard. We argued with them until they paid us for the dirt. The lumber stayed on the ground several weeks being rained on several times. It took them forever to get started, when they did there workers did not show up on time. There were week when no one was working on our home. They blamed everything on Ike But several other home builder were able to complete much large homes in half the time ( Even with Ike ).

They did not return phone call. No one ever seem to know what was going on. Although we paid them and too much I have later learned .My Husband had to speak with there home builder to make sure they knew what to do, My husband also took vacation and repaired things they did wrong. We were very lucky that he had the knowledge to do so. The Guy they hired to be our job site foreman was never around when the worker did decided to show up.

There is a lot to list like shower in wrong place, sewer pipe sticking out of bedroom, losing several feet in children room to make up for there mistake in master bath, front door put in wrong place, window on front of home being so close to corner of house can not fit in shutters that were suppose to be on home.It goes on and on and on it has been the biggest ripoff I do not want anyone else to suffer what we have been through. Do Not Use United Bilt Home Beaumont Texas, They Also have office in ARK. LA. Be warned, avoid these people at all cost!!!!!!

Central air system fixed, but major electrical and structural problems persist in home constructed by United-Bilt Homes.

The failure of the central air system was reported to United-Bilt Homes on 7/3/2011.  

The failed evaporator coil was replaced by a local HVAC company that was contracted by United Bilt Home's HVAC subcontractor on 8/4/2011.

However, the major electrical and structural problems are still unresolved.

Truth from United-Bilt Homes: They did not post the video.  We've been lied to so many times by the builder we decided we needed to accurately document any and all interactions with United-Bilt Homes.  We didn't want a consumer said, business said situation as it appears many of their customers have experienced based upon the reports filed at ripoffreport.com among other consumer websites. 

The only good thing about dealing with dishonest businesses is that they are fairly consistent in being dishonest.  Therefore when they came to the structure United-Bilt Homes "BILT", we recorded the video.  Since Texas is a single party state, no notice was required to be given to them since the person recording the video was part of the conversation.  I'm sure they would have exercised their right to remain silent if they known their lies were being recorded. 

During the youtube video your Regional Construction Manager was entering into a verbal contract with us to cut studs out and possible destroy the house to fix the structural defects in the house that they "BILT'.  

We are customers of United-Bilt Homes.  We can provide a copy of our home building agreement between us and United-Bilt Homes to prove we are customers of United-Bilt homes. We are being ripped off by United-Bilt Homes.  

We have dealt with employees of United-Bilt Homes at the local, regional, and headquarters level without resolution.  We have been lied to by employees of United-Bilt Homes at the local, regional, and headquarters level.  Their senior vice president has lied in their responses to the Better Business Bureau.  We are currently working with the state of Texas to address our concerns.  Unfortunately, the state advised us that it could take 2 years to complete their investigation.  

At this point in time, it is important for other consumers to get an accurate picture of what it is like to deal with United-Bilt Homes on a corporate level.

Dear Company Warranty Manager:

In our original comment, we did not mention the location of the residence.  
How did you determine the distance from your "local" United-Bilt Homes office in Beaumont Texas  to the structure that United-Bilt Homes has "BILT"?

According to mapquest, your Beaumont Office is about 300 miles from this structure.  This is one of the few truthful statements that a representative of United-Bilt Homes has made.  It is also about 65 miles from the HVAC subcontractor that United-Bilt Homes used to "BILT" our house.  This subcontractor is about 225 miles away from the structure United-Bilt Homes has BILT.  The central air system failed on 7/3/2011.  Numerous emails were exchanged between us and United-Bilt Homes until you finally agreed to let us contact your subcontractor on 7/5/2011 after explaining that the excessive heat in the structure that United-Bilt Homes "BILT" was adversely impacting the health and safety of the elderly disabled customers that are living in the structure your Company has "BILT". 

Your subcontractor was unwilling to come up to service what they installed.  However, they were willing to contract with a locally licensed HVAC company.  Per the "TOP QUALITY BUILDING" dropdown on your home page at www.ubh.com - "We always use quality local subcontractors, so you can be sure that your home will be built with quality."  How is the HVAC subcontractor that you used to BILT the house a local subcontractor?  This is false advertising.  The "Locally Licensed HVAC technician determined that the evaporator was faulty, but was able to refill the refrigerant which will continue to leak until the evaporator is replaced"  We are still waiting for your subcontractor arrange for the replacement of the faulty evaporator.  

How did you determine the distance from the local office to the structure that your company has "BILT"?  Was it after talking to your regional construction manager that was talking in the youtube video?  Was it after talking to your Vice President/Attorney?  It would be interesting to know how you determined the location of the structure that we referenced in our consumer comment.  We are not the author of the complaint, but we have filed our consumer comment because our problems with United-Bilt Homes are like the ones that the original author experienced.  However, we are consumers that has been ripped off by United-Bilt Homes otherwise you would have not known the approximate distance from your Beaumont Office to the "home located hundreds of miles away."

Why does the headquarters for United-Bilt Homes fail to resolve construction issues with multiple office locations from multiple consumers in a timely manner?

United-Bilt did not post this video. It was posted by a person who is not our customer and concerns a home located hundreds of miles away from the home in question.

We're just another consumer that got ripped off by United-Bilt Homes

The Video on You Tube is one that the consumer took while the Regional Construction Manager for United-Bilt Homes promised to "destroy the house" to resolve the structural problems with the house.

Of course, their response to the Better Business Bureau states that there are no problems.  Which of course is a lie based upon the verbal agreement United-Bilt made when they were onsite as shown by the video.

Unfortunately, we as consumers, have experienced first hand how United-Bilt homes builds houses.  Knowing what we know now, we would not have signed any contracts with United-Bilt homes.  Unfortunately, we put up both land and money as collateral making it very difficult to unring the bell.  We just want the issues resolved. 

As many that have filed complaints with Rip Off Report have found, the business is extremely difficult to deal with.  The problem isn't with just one location, but multiple locations.  We are currently dealing with their attorney that is also a vice president of the company.  But the problems still persist. 

We have experienced numerous quality problems regarding the house that United-Bilt Homes has built for us.  They are very similar to the problems you have experienced.   We strongly agree with the last statement in your original complaint.  Avoid these people at all cost!!!!!!

The builder filed this response to the BBB on 5/13/2011: During my visit I did not say that we were going to tear out drywall and repair. I said that we would repair any areas that were not within performance standards and I wanted to seek advice of the correct way to measure the bows in the drywall. I returned on 4/20/11 and measured the drywall against performance standards and found no areas that were out of the agreed standard. The most bow that was measured was 3/16 inch.

We believe we have indentified the author of this complaint. This is a little surprising to read because the day we read this, this customer was in our office and gave us no indication of this complaint.

This is a home we currently have under construction. The project has been slowed down a bit by the aftermath of the hurricane, as have many projects, because it was difficult to find contractors, who had been largely tied up working on repairing damaged homes and replacing destroyed homes. We have gotten past that now.

We have, as agreed, moved some walls to accommodate some plumbing that is slightly off. This is all allowed for in our contract with these customers, which indicate that room sizes are approximates. This movement has not made a major difference in the footprint or arrangement of the home or interior rooms.

We have also made some agreements with the customer to do some extra things on the home to accommodate any loss they feel from moving an interior wall. We have this already reflected in a change order, signed by these customers. We are nearing the end of the project and if the weather and local inspectors cooperate, we should complete it within the next 30 days or so. The home has been under construction for about 100 days.

The building materials were tarped when they were stored on the property and the house is now framed up, roofed, sided and in the dry. Any moisture that may have accumlated is dried out as the dried-in house has stood with exposed studs and rafters inside to allow for air flow and drying. Homes get wet during construction commonly, this one no more than another. If there are any flaws or problems as a result, then we will take care of those as part of our normal warranty obligations.

We regret that our customers are not pleased and will do our best to win back their confidence.
