Its probably bogus - but check your credit reports and with your Bank

www.ftc.gov - look under Fair Debt Collections Practices Act

There have been several postings about some guy with a heavy accent trying to collect on bogus accounts.

They are required by Federal Law to validate the debt and CANNOT just demand you pay without providing it. They will attempt to scare you into sending them money by using threats such as this as well as arrest etc.

Threats of this kind are illegal and they hope you do not know your rights.

EDUCATE YOURSELF - and do not send them any money. Once they realize you know you have rights - they usually back down quickly.

It is a scam

Contact your bank immediately and tell them about the call. You do not want any money disappearing from your account. Do NOT give the caller any personal information at all. Do you owe the money? If you do then you should call the loan company to work out the details.

It is a SCAM

AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

Do not talk to them - let voice mail pick it up then record the calls
Keep a list of all the times they call - if possible, take picture of your caller id
These people have been profiled on ABC News
Don't worry - they cannot have you arrested or prosecuted unless you wrote a NSF check
