I am not sure who is ripping me off, but I feel like I am definitely getting screwed by someone. I bought a mattress from QVC and needed to return it (after approx. 2 weeks). To ship the mattress to me, the shipping cost charged by QVC was $55. To ship the mattress back to QVC (a shorter distance to their return center, actually), the cost was $267.

I cannot imagine that QVC gets *that* much of a discount on shipping. Are they allocating less of the purchase price to shipping so that people will not be concerned about shipping it back if they need to? Are they hoping that people will get ready to ship it back and then decide that it costs too much and they would be better off to keep the product?

Did UPS rip me off? Did QVC rip me off? I feel ripped off and really don't know which one of these companies is responsible for sticking it to me.

Sounds like you got a great deal

Sounds like you got a great deal from QVC on shipping. $55 to ship something as huge as a mattress??? Such a low price on something so large and bulky is virtually unheard of. The price quoted to you by UPS is much more reasonable and in line with what anyone would have to pay to ship such a large item.

Why do you think QVC does not get "*that*" big of a discount? They are a mail-order company, and sends EVERYTHING through the post. It seems only logical that they would get large discounts from various shipping companies as a way of gaining business.

This discount clearly was passed down to you in the form of a surprisingly low shipping charge of $55 for a mattress. And then, they even reimbursed you for the return shipping when you cried sour grapes!!

There is no rip off here -- you were treated fairly and justly.

I sent a letter to QVC regarding the problem. They refunded all of the shipping charges. They were very easy to deal with and I will definitely buy from them again.
