December 26th, i run to the bank to deposit some money when I find that my account is is a negative balance. I was shocked. I went home and went online to find out what had happened. There was a check that had cleared my account on December 24th (how convenient). When I looked at the check it said that it was authorized and didn't need a signature and the companies name was United Protection Services.

I had never heard of this company, and I was mad. I immediately called my bank telling them I had never authorized this and what could we do about it. They refunded the money right then...closed my account and we opened a new checking account.

Now here is where it gets weird. The "check" had my name, but my folks address. Which is odd because I haven't lived with my folks for 15 years. Then it dawned on me. This was "Buyers Union". I had been sucked into one of their scams a few years ago. I was one of the lucky ones and was only taken for $119 because I had canceled like 4 days after I signed up. Anyway, I had signed up because they had called my folks house (while I was there) and they offered $200 in Home Depot gift certificates for trying their services. I would just have to pay the trial fees and if I cancelled before the trial period was over I wouldn't be charged...yadda yadda yadda. Well, those jerks did charge me and I am still waiting to get my money back.

So...in their records they have my name, account number, and my folks address. Even though I had changed it like a hundred times when I would call them for a refund, waiting every 10 to 14 business days to call them back. What a crock.

So...this is "Buyers Union", Premier Benefits, Call One and Dining Club Rebates. Close your accounts and open new ones. I know it is a pain, but these folks are devious and scam artisits.

I am sorry for anyone who has lost money on this. I wish I had been smarter sooner and had closed my bank account after the first problems I had with them in 2005. It is just unbelievable that they would fraudulently take my money, and even more ballsy by doing it under the guise of Identitiy Theft Protection. I should take them up on their Million Dollar Policy since they stole my identity.
