We had a vehicle impounded because the driver was unlicensed...fair enough. We knew that it was going to cost $1000-1200 to pick up the vehicle after 60 days. The person that was unlicensed told the driver that the vehicle was all wheel drive and that it really should be flatdecked however the the driver told him to shut up because the car was "a piece of s**t anyway".

Well this car which was mechanically sound before it went into their compound was returned to the owner with the amplifiers missing, the wiring stripped out of the car, electronics removed, panels and lights removed as well as a capacitor and barrel fuses. They also removed the CD holders on the sunshades and removed cds from the cases. On top of this they unscrewed everything and put most of the panels back in place to appear as though nothing had been done. Now the car has damaged electrical components, the reverse lights do not work anymore, the clutch which was just installed within 30 days of being towed is slipping or the pressure plate is damaged (unknown until we have it inpected) there is body damage and the vehicle has oil and brake dust all over the wheels which were spotless when hooked up as there were photos taken when it was on the hook. We called the police because the tow company wouldn't talk to us when we called them and when we tried to get the police to take a file number they at first refused due to the fact that the vehicle was an impound.

After talking to a senior officer the report was filed however the officer handling the case said that Unitow has to deal with the problem because they had care and control. I called the mayor's office because they use this contractor for their towing needs and to this date have still had no resolution to this situation. Our next step is to file a civil case against Unitow and Gary Tarantino because they have not dealt with this situation and will not return our calls. Wow for a piece of s**t car they managed to do about 2000 damage and stole over 1000 of electronics. And for those that are interested here is a picture of the car in question http://b0.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01375/05/83/1375623850_l.jpg this car is one of only 800 ever made and was scheduled to go into the shop for some minor body work now it might have to be written off or used as parts due to the damage to the vehicle.
