Universal Appliance Service (William) Failed to fix appliance after 3 attempts and refuses to honor 30 day money back guarantee Charlotte or Cherryville North Carolina
I was looking for company who could repair a refregerator that was not cooling. Contacted Universal Appliance Service because they/ he had an impressive website and offered a 30 day money back guarantee on all work (as indicated on his website). I figured I would give him a shot before I went out and bought a new refrigerator. Technician William came out right away (as website claims will be out within 3 hours). After assessing refrigerator, he stated that a new compressor was needed. I asked how much it would cost and he immediately told me it would be $800+ to repair. I figured I had nothing to loose since he/ company offered a great quaranteee and claimed to be a factory certified/ trained technician,
so I gave him the green light to fix. Once the job was complete, it appeared that the unit was starting to cool down and it seemed to be working to some degree for about 48 hours, however, on third day it stopped cooling. I called the number and the same guy "William" answered the phone that had come out to repair the unit. I told him that it had stopped cooling, and so he said he would come out and take a look at it. He ended up coming out a few days later (as planned) and told me that it had a leak. He said he would repair.
This time the refrigerator stopped working that same day!...... I called the company back that evening around 6pm and left a message. It was the same technicians voice that prompted to leave a message. I had a feeling after second call that this company that claimed to have everything you would expect from what was advertised on the website was really a one man show that did shoty work. None the less I left a message and explained that it was not working and I just wanted my money back, because at this point I did not feel like he was capable of repairing. He ended up calling me back around 7PM that night and said he would like to start from scratch with the repair.
After some thought I told him I would give him one more chance, but I was hesitant. He came back out a few days later (as planned) and worked on the unit for a few hours. Once again it seemed that there was some hope as unit was cooling, however, like first repair it only lasted 3 days and then crapped out yet again!!!!!! I called and left message that day and never got a response back. I have called a dozen times since then and this person will not return my call. I have called from multiple numbers to trick him and the times he did pick up and realized it was me, he HUNG UP on me! I reported this company to the BBB and also retained a lawyer to go after him!
I have never been treated this way by any service provider! He sure went and cashed my $800+ check the same day he did the original repair........now I still have a broken refrigerator and am out $800.00 and oh yea I have some food that was ruined. This company/ person does not honor what they advertise! He is definately not what he claims to be on his website. Who knows if he is really certified/licensed/ bonded and insured??? I also found that Universal Appliance Service had two other complaints against them/him on the BBB website in the last twelve months!!!! Beware.........
