I was coached into signing up for school by this company, I informed them that my financial aid was not completely process and that I had no job.  I also told them  until it is throughly processed I would  rather not start or sign up for my class because I do not have the money to pay.  They insisted that I did sign up and that once my financial aid went through that the school Florida Tech could go back and get money owed to them.  I had no reason not to believe them since this is for education.

Then after the deadline for me dropping the class they contacted me and  started telling me that they haven't recieve my high school transcript and that they keep calling the school for it.  So I told them I would fax the copy I had of my transcript to them and I did , once they got that they said the transcript  it  needed to had  come directly from my school to them them ,so I  contacted the school and had them mail them a copy.  Once copy arrived they stated it was too late and that financial aid would not pay for my class for that term and they billed me 3,188.48.

Now I have no job but had to agree to pay them 89.00 month for 3 yrs just so this would not go on my credit record.  I told them this is not fair they told me because I did not sign up this term financial aid won't pay I told them I refuse to sign up again because I may end up owing more money they then to me to contact there billing dept to make payment arrangements.  My problem is I gave them everything they asked for but they waited to tell me about the transcript after the deadline for me to get the financial aid award for the school.

Same Thing occurred to me

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, December 19, 2011

The same thing happened to me with Florida Tech/University Alliance...They coached me into signing up, told me that once my financial aid goes through the funds will be applied..but I can start without being fully registered. I REGRET dealing with those BASTARDS and anything to do with online schooling! When I finished sitting the finals exam, I received an email  stating that they needed ONE more LAST DOCUMENT to get me fully registered, which prior to that I had ALREADY SUBMITTED all DOCUMENTS they supposedly said they needed! The very LAST MINUTE they asked for more documents which had me getting my original CXC results from Barbados, and my transcript from my homeland sent directly to them, by then; the deadline had already passed due to their delay, and I had to foot the bill cus financial aid didn't cover it. Now every 2 weeks I'm getting an invoice for 700+ and I already spoke to someone from there, and they told me they're close to getting it sent to collections so I need to arrange a payment plan with them. I have no choice now as I do not want my credit to be messed up cause of those shitty schools FLORIDA TECH/UNIVERSITY ALLIANCE..I CAN ASSURE YOU, EVERY DOG HAS IT'S DAY...I WILL PAY IT, however I WILL STILL take them to COURT, for false information and having individuals in a jam, and when u try to contact any of the two for assistance no one is helping you out, before they were harassing me through calls/emails to sign up, now they have students in a jam and u can't get any assistance from those PIGS!

First, I hope your report will serve as a warning to other potential students that going through a third party like University Alliance isn't necessary, or even desireable.  Students should always work directly with the school they wish to attend.

Second, I hope you will pursue the financial aid issue directly with the school. The general process goes like this: student fills out FAFSA and has it sent to the school. Once the school has a complete admissions packet (to include high school transcript sent directly from the school) and the financial aid is determined, the student enrolls. Sounds like this is what you wanted to do, prior to being pressured into enrolling by UA. I'm sorry you didn't follow your instincts.

A school can certify your attendance for a semester until the end of that academic year. So you should still be eligible for financial aid. However, you didn't give us any dates, so it's hard to tell. The FAFSA generally covers the year from 1 June through 31 May I believe. Then a new academic year begins.

PLEASE call Forida Tech and talk to the Director of Financial Aid. Get everything in writing!!
