 Hello, i started my schooling at UoP about five months ago. At first when i talked to my counselor it was all good. He was real nice, then he quit his job. That is when it started getting bad. They told me that i had been selected for verification, they told me to fax a letter  to a number they gave me. so i did. the first one i sent, they told me something was wrong with it. I did not think much about it so i just sent in another letter. Then once again, something was wrong. this went on back and forth, all together i ended up sending six papers in, all of them had something wrong with them. The last one i sent in they sent me a letter the next day that said i had to pay them 2,350$. i do not know if anyone else has had this problem, but i would sure like to know. thx

Same thing happened

I started UOP with them being super helpful and I honestly thought they wanted to help me, took out loans and all the fun stuff to start my degree, after the first set of classes I decided that it was not right for me, I took the second set of classes and in the middle, called to drop out, after being ignored contiuously, someone finally sent me the paper to formally withdraw, I faxed it back in and called for 2 weeks to confirm that they recieved it. Finally got someone to confirm it. Come to find out, they charged me for TWO more semesters and turned me into a collection agency saying I owe them 900.00

I answered a collection agencys call and asked them to prove that I owed them money, and the lady on the phone started screaming at me that I should "man up" (I am a woman) and pay what is owed. I sent this agency a signed letter asking them to prove in writing that I owe them this money and why, and if they keep harrasing me I will take them to court. Funny thing, I have not heard another word.

I had the same thing as you and i still will for a very long time to come. I started last year and the girls were nice over the phone and when i started then it got very bad. In May 2011 i filed for a grant of 4000.00 and then after that i only got one class which i was suppose to have two and i was told i had to apply for another loan and i did in the same amount because they said they never got it. Then it came as to where i was turned down on the loan. So i filed again and this one went thru with no problems and i was told over the phone and even an email saying i owe them 460.00 and they wanted me to pay them 35.00 a month to get my classes ctarted after they got the grant so after paying it i started having trouble with them saying i cheated by doing other people work which was a big lie. I dropped out and then they looked and said it shows here that i dropped out back in Aug. the 15th. If i dropped out then, why did they put me in class? That college is a BIG RIPOFF and they took the extra 4000.00 and put it in their pockets. The college is a scam but why do not the lenders and the states see it? I am going all the way with this and if there are others in Tennessee wants to do the same jusy email me and get it on the ball. The state here knows a lot as of now about how they are and they do not like it.

UoP has a long-standing history of ripoff reports. They eventually ended up taking on new names out west, namely devry and carrington college. Though they vehemently deny that where I was living in idaho. If you call either recruitment number you still get the UoP office there.
The recruitment practice is dodgy at best and criminal in my opinion. I was told my credits would be inexpensive, that my entire associates degree would cost me around $10,000.  I was also told I was signing up for an online course.
After having tried 4 times to get things straight on my financial aid I was informed the online program I signed up for required me to drive 1 hour each way to the classroom once a month. okay.. It irritated me, I'm on medications for pain and driving that distance requires me to be in agony the entire time i'm in class, due to having to be off the medications long enough to be safe to drive.
When I got to class, I found out i would have to come back a second time at the end of the month. By now, I was slightly beyond irritated, my student loans had still not come in, and I was driving on gas money from child support to get to classes that were supposed to be entirely online.
As a single mom, I was very determined to somehow make it work, around paying for my sitter and losing the time online schooling should have left me with my child.
At some point I was told I had to show up at campus for some kind of workgroup meeting. Mind you, this is supposed to be online, and I am driving 100 miles one way. It moved from 1 time a month to now nearly 2 times a week. I was refusing to go and instead calling as I was told my "Work group" was supposed to be able to be done remotely.
Big mistake, I found out too, my work group was 80% of my grade, and I was failing due to not showing up. 
I am disabled, but not enough for disability. Going back to school was my only option. I'm enrolled in another program now with a 3.5gpa. But was failing miserably due to my 'group' status.
So I was frustrated and called my admissions adviser. We talked a short while, and he let me know that someone had seriously mislead me. That my tuition was almost 3k/term and there was no possible way that it could work out to 10k total.
I was, very, very upset. Who ever heard of a 54 thousand dollar associates degree?
I talked with my intake counselor who told me that it wasn't that expensive, and that he must be mistaken. She insisted the degree would be around 15k (which is actually pretty normal, but by now I am angry as heck for all the lies and confusion) She then told me the best thing I could do was drop that program and enroll in another online program that was almost completely unrelated to what I wanted to do!
I told her i would rather withdraw, and was put online with my financial counselor. (Oh, he was MIA up to t his point) I had done all my dealings with the main financial aid office, because he was too busy to return my phone calls or emails, until I was dropping which meant he could bill me! The office had told me that my loans and grants would cover my expenses, and I had foolishly believed them. I came to find out, that less than 4 weeks of class was now costing me nearly 700 dollars. I'd been told it would cost me only 10K for 18 months of school. That should have been right around 550 a month, give or take. so I was concerned, only to find out that I'd been told wrong.
After all this frustration I simply dropped, which may or may not have been the best. He wanted me to stay so they could use my loans to pay for it, so I would only owe a couple hundred dollars. Now it's in collections and likely to stay that way
As for dispute resolution, Good luck. If you don't have the dates you made calls, times, who you spoke with, and almost a perfect memory of the conversation you are out of luck.
It's a great system for messing with you. I Love whoever does their collections. They sometimes call 20 times in a single day, even if I pick up. They say they are from another office and it isn't in the system.. (Okay I'm not going to get into how this violates FTC rules and such) 
All I can say is stay clear>
(Don't be surprised I'm posting this as a complaint too. )
My advice, if you're still in, leave asap.. if you haven't got your financial aid yet, bail.

Financial Aid Verification

I work at another higher ed institution and can confirm that financial aid verifications are required by the feds.  Apparently there was something that made you ineligible for continued financial aid -- perhaps you sent the wrong SSAN or they noticed your income was above the cutoff for FA when you sent your tax forms (which is what they usually ask you to send).
