Mr. Joseph Azar is the owner of this company. He seems to feel that although he has set pay days (Bi-weekly) he can withhold the actual pay check for up to five days. After I quit the company, I turned in my last time sheet for payment. After five months had passed and I had not been paid, I report Mr. Azar to the U. S. Department of Consumer Affairs. They investigated the complaint. Their response to me was that Mr. Azar told them that he didn't remember me working those hours.

It is nice to know that in 36 years of business there is only one complaint!. This matter was investigated by SC state authorities as this person filed a complaint. Her complaint was found to have no merit. Unfortunately she continues to try to taint our reputation years after the complaint. The odd part to this is that she told someone recently to apply to us for the job she walked out on with no notice given. Why she would do this is very suspect.

The hours she claims were submitted far after she walked out and were never verified. Months after walking out and not returning any messages left for her, she submitted hours she said she worked. However, she walked out at the end of the pay period and was paid for all hours that were on her time sheet. The new hours she dropped by the store handwritten on a sheet of paper months later while I was out were quite a surprise, especially after she never made any attempt to call or return calls. Since her time of abandonment, I have had no verbal or visual contact with her, though I tried to contact her numerous times.

As for the time of payment our company has, we pay twice monthly and 5 business days after the close of pay period. This is legal and allowable under state law, and every employee is notified upon employment of this policy. As we are a small business, it allowed our bookkeeper, in this case the complainer Sandi Thomas, time to take care of payroll and all other necessary duties, especially if she was out for a couple of days. This policy was instituted many years ago as we had outside payroll personnel that would come to our store and do our payroll and all taxes and such for us. The 5 days of grace allowed them to do the job, and all employees got their checks in the same time each month, so there was no problem.

It is unfortunate that she continues a tirade long after this issue was investigated and state authorities found no supporting evidence from her and therefore no merit to her claims.
