My wife and I where looking for a reputable moving company, we had did some research but
not as much as we should have. We called a couple of movers, and came across a couple and spoke with several. A representative from US-1 Van Lines had called back a few times and seemed nice and
trustworthy. She explained the rates (1 truck 3 men) @ $119.00 per hour, which seemed reasonable.
She called me back the next day at work, and said based on the items; our cost would be $357.00 for
3 hours. FINE I said, she explained I would only need $100.00 deposit. First everything seemed fine,
I understood that moving pads, moving blankets were no charge. GREAT! I said, but then the nightmare
begins. I notice diesel fuel leaking from the truck onto my driveway. I made the head mover aware and
he simply put a bucket under the fuel tank, I was very upset 1. [continued below]....
..... Because it would ruin the driveway 2. Because it an environmental hazard, he called his supervisor LISA and she told me don't worry about it. She stated it will evaporate! I was very upset and everything went downhill from there. Then I found out the was being charged for the wrapping of furniture that I didn't authorize them to wrap. I called the LISA person once again to inquire about the extra hidden charges, so she said she would give me a discount.
Now my 3 hour ordeal is way over the time and getting more expensive by the minute. To make a long story short my 3 hour quote of $357.00, turned into a 11 hour move, now the total's up to $1,309.00 plus $692.00 for wrapping items= GRAND TOTAL $2001.00-$100 deposit. I was SHOCK, and extremely upset and new they had ripped us off! Everything now was on the moving truck being held hostage for payment, so I called the moving supervisor LISA to complain. To no avail, she started threatening to take back the discount she earlier said I would get, and SHE DID JUST THAT! She told the head driver
to scratch out the discount, now I'm stuck with this UNPROFESSIONAL RIPOFF CREW AND COMPANY. By the way they tell you will get one month storage free, never got it. What they don't tell you until they have your posseions in storage, is about the $300.00 a month charge every month. Then they charge you again to load your stuff onto the truck and transport to your new location at $119.00 per hour. So, you are really being charged double for one MOVE! PLEASE FOLKS, do your research this has been a nightmare from start to finish. USE a more professional/trustworthy moving company or you'll
WISH U HAD! THANK GOD THIS IS OVER WITH.
