I hired the services of US-1 Van Lines as recommended by Movers.com on 10/13/07. They are willing to sell and are very helpulf but once the moving day arrives so do the nightmares. Everyone needs to know that their belongings will be moved and tossed around before being loaded at the origin address. Mover does not inform that they will load items in a small truck and then transfer everything into a warehouse and then load them again in another truck or trucks.

Consumer be ware...this business state they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for any item not packed by them (they don't statate even if they drop, crush, squish or step on it, though). They dropped a box of bottles of wine when they tried to load it destroying the content and the "supervisor" in charge told me they were not responsible since they did not pack that box.

This "supervisor" insisted that no coverage was necessary since the company will treat every single item with "utmost" care and they have never lost an item. He strongly suggested to have the minimum coverage of sixty cents per pound for the load. Also, he does not explain what does "Flex" mean in the delivery date he writes on the contract. Although he asked for a delivery date he clearly stated it would be very close to the requested date WILL NOT to exceed 5 CALENDAR days.

The so called Long Distance Dispatcher office is totally useless. They cannot agreed on a delivery date. I called so many times because the delivery date had come and gone and I got no information from the movers. Everytime I called they were rude, mean and nasty and kept increasing the delivery date, 5 BUSINESS days, 15 BUSINESS days, 20 BUSINESS days and on the last call they told me it would take 30 BUSINESS days. The movers arrived to the delivery address 22 calendar days later on 11/04/07.

Over 50% of my boxes they moved were significantly damaged when they arrived but they said they were not responsible for any damage since they did not pack those boxes. Even if they pack them and they wreck them like some of my furniture, they will reimburse with the minimum pay (60 cents per pound). My belongings show damage with the clear sign of abuse. Boxes totally ripped open other completely smashed like some one jumped on top of them or they dropped them from a significant height. They lost a box containing 80 music CD's 23 DVD's, a box with 12 bottles of wine, a 6' ladder.

I have been in contact with their Claims Department and the only way to communicate with them is via postal service since they only have an answering machine in this department and they do not return calls. As of today 12/17/07 the issue has not been solved. All what I am asking from them is to reimburse for damaged/missing items.
