Due to a death of a friend, I needed to take a last minute flight from Orlando to Boise. This was in October and due to the last minute necessity I flew on US Airways in lieu of my regular airline of choice. While in flight I was given a brochure touting the benefits of the Dividend Miles Program. Of particular interest was the Companion travel benefit, perfect for my son and daughter in law.

It took almost 4 months to obtain the certificate, despite having used the credit card on the day I received it and having paid the annual fee in the second billing cycle.

Then, having been notified that I was eligible for the program, I decided to purchase my first round trip ticket, departing Orlando on August 23,2015 to Rapid City, departing Rapid city on September 3, 2015 I called the designated 800 number and in responding to the recorded prompt asking if I was paying in Dividend Miles, I answered yes. I was placed in an interminable wait. This same scenario was repeated sveral times. Ironically while on these interminable waits I listened to the benefits of the DM program

Then I decided to be clever. After calling the 800-number and being asked if i was paying in dividend Miles, I responded No in dollars. in less than a minute I was talking with a US Airways representative. I told her I really wanted to pay in Dividend Miles. She responded that she was not "Dividend Miles trained" and rrequested that I hold for the trained person. Of course the interminable wait.

Then I decided to book this trip on line.  There were several convenient options.  The only Dividend Miles Option was a very early morning departing flight. The outbound trip lasting more than twice the time of the more convenient options. The return trip being similarly long and inconvenient. Biting the bullet, I decided to purchase the ticket with Dividend Miles. I went through the process and when clicking to make the purchase a pop window appeared indicating an error with a 800-number to call back. I reviewed my information, finding no errors and called the 800-number.  The interminable wait.

Of course I still cannot get through regarding the Companion Travel Benefit. 

I would like a refund for the Credit Card fee, and some redress for the time spent on hold. But more than that I would like to put a stop to this incorrect behavoir.
