US Energy Corp. signed me up 1&1/2 years ago because my wife said to come talk to this guy on the stoop. He explained I could save money in the long run by locking in my per therm gas price at $1.19 per therm. He said the peak price the winter before was about that and he related this to rising gas prices for cars ect. He show how much the peak price was the year before and how much it went up. So I was to assume eventually It would spike again and again due to demand. He showed the average price and I thought not a good idea. He kept hammering and then said I could cancell within 3 days if I wanted. So like a dumbie I signed. Then as I sat down and reviewed the per therm rates. I noticed that this spiked rate was unusual. I decided that paying the spiked rate year round, even in the Summer when the per therm rate was a fraction of that, was foolish. So I took some time to go to their office to cancel the contract because I didn't want to risk them not getting my sign cancellation through USPS. If the per therm rate was locked in at the average therm rate for the year that might be a good deal, but at the peak rate year round SORRY, NO dice. This has to be a great deal for the supply company to sell their gas at peak rates even when they are getting it at the low end of the curve, come on!
