I bought a warranty through US Fedelis in October 2008. I have paid around $800 dollars on the 2,045 warranty. I took my car to get a new transmission just 3 weeks ago. When you watch the commercial they lead you to believe that it's a quick in and out ordeal and that everything will be taken care of. What they don't tell you is that you must keep every maintence record and have printed off details of oil changes etc. My car needed a transmission, not a motor and they wanted 5 proofs that I have changed the oil in corraspondence of the mileage. I have always put synthetic oil in my 2000 Toyota Celica GTS and needs to be changed 5,000-7,000 miles not the normal oil which you change at 3,000 miles. My boyfriend changes the oil or we get it done at a shop in the very small town I live in where all you get is a written slip, but written slips are not accepted as proof, they must be computer generated. They also don't tell you that it takes weeks for anything to even happen to your car- my mechanic spoke on the phone with them for over 4 hours and tried to explain to them that the oil had nothing to do with the transmission. They wouldn't accept that fact.

Another thing they don't tell you about is that the mechanic must tear apart the part you claim has failed, in my case the transmission. If it is not a covered part you must pay for the tear apart, even though you wouldn't have had it torn apart you would have just had it replaced if you didn't have the warranty. So the other day I go to cancel the warranty and figured I would get my money back since they did not provide me any service but frustration. The representative tried to lower my payments but I asked what the point in that was when I would just be giving them more money for nothing, but they would not give me a refund.

I am a college student and have a car payment and a car that needs a new transmission, after having to pay the mechanic that had my car for over 3 weeks. I wish I had looked online instead of believing their FALSE advertisments. It's sad in a country like this how easily people can be scammed, I am a very weary person thanks to this. A company should not think they are entitled to money that is not their's. I wrote to the BBB and found they have an F as a score from A-F, F being the lowest possible score. I wish I had looked online and read this before making the leap in buying this 'warranty.' Hopefully I will get my money back, but believe me I will only buy a warranty at a dealership. Do not buy from these people, learn from my mistake.
