US Movers was subcontracted to move my belongings from North Carolina to Michigan on 6/16/02 when the original company, Hi Tech Moving defaulted. Hi Tech contacted US Movers on 6/16/02 and they arrived later the same day. Hi Tech had provided an original estimate of $1337 for my move.

When US Movers had finished loading the truck I was told I was now dealing directly with them and the price was $3386. That price also reflected a discount of $334 which I had paid Hi Tech two months earlier. The truck driver, Ken, the dispatcher, Eli, and the secretary, Barbara, all told me my belongings would be delivered in 3 to 5 days.

Thursday of that week I called to find out when my belongings would be arriving. Barbara never let me speak to the dispatcher, Eli, but I was told he would call me back. I was told that every day for the next four days and of course Eli never called me back. As a matter of fact, once my belongings were picked up and I had written US Movers a check, no one from the company ever called me to follow up.

Each time I called I stressed the importance of my belongings arriving by Monday 6/24, 8 days after they were picked up. Finally I got a hold of Eli who told me my belongings might not arrive until Tuesday, then Wednesday then Thursday. My shipment arrived after 8:15PM Thursday night and the movers didn't finish until 11:30 PM. The movers told me they had gone from NC to NY, then to Chicago and finally back to Michigan before delivering my furniture.

On arrival, one item was missing and three were broken. I informed Eli the next day I expected a refund for the delay. I had already missed 2 days of work and spent 2 nights sleeping on the floor. Eli never called me back. I called again and told him the same thing and as of today, he still refuses to follow up or offer any apology.
