There is a consistent problem among companies advertising job opportunities in the online employment agencies, such as Monster.com and Indeed.com.

Almost everytime I read a job opportunity, after I had already signed in with my Username and Password, I have to re-register in order to fill out the application online.

With U.S. Security Associates, I was required to register on their web-site and then, after identifying myself with my name, address and telephone number(s), I was then required to download my resume.  Once done, it goes into another page demanding I fill in the same information already provided in my resume.

This is a common practice among American companies; then, sometimes, all of my work may simply disappear.  Very few companies, or Human Resource Managers, will show the decency of responding -- one way or the other. It is as if I were dropping my resume into a deep well.

Today, after this experience with the U.S. Security Associates, I called their Human Resource Manager to complain of this common, ignorant and thoughtless practice. After spending several minutes with their mulit-menu-driven addressing system, I finally got to the Human Resource Manage.

Tense, and naturally frustrated, I tried to explain to her this absurdity of their demanding a resume and then, after I will have downloaded it, asking me to repeat everything I had already put into the resume.  I told her it takes much too much time -- on the average of one hour (sometimes more) and I don't even get the decency of a respectful response.

Immediately, she lied to me.  She told me it was a "law" to do it this way.  Angry, I called her a liar.  If it were a law, then every company would do it. Nor does it make sense to employ such a practice or policy. Actually, it is a little stupid and an enormous waste of time.

She made no attempt to understand the absurity of this practice or to admit it wastes a lot of time.  Instead, she simply hung up on me.

I have learned from extensive personal experience Human Resource Managers, or Peronnel Managers, as they were called many years ago, are comprehensively incompetent in the proper treatment of people or the proper interpretation of their creditials, accomplisments or qualifications. They really have no clue to what they are doing in their responsibilities. They are pretending to know more than they do and lack the skills and tools to talk about it.

The Human Resource Management at U.S. Security Associates is no different.
