I'm a lawyer. They sell people my name and phone number. I get nothing.

AUTHOR: Lawyer-guy - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 04, 2018

I'm a lawyer in private practice. I never agreed to be a part of any plan called USA Legal Resource. I was never contacted by them. They sell members some "plan" and then give them my practice contact info and, by doing that, suggest to them that I am ready and able to help them. Their members call me and expect that I will provide serivce in return for the money that they paid to USA Legal Resource. When I tell members that I don't do bankruptcy cases or that I don't want to help them sue thier nextdoor neighbor for $1,000,000.00 because he has a dog that won't stop barking then they get angry with me. Please understand that I'm just a lawyer that USA Legal Resource apparently picked out of the phonebook. I get nothing from them but unwanted calls. The calls they send tie up my receptionist and tie me up too. Then the people who were given my number get angry when I won't do work that I can't get paid for.

Imagine the following: Joe tells Robert that Bill will paint Robert's house for $5. Bill is a painter but he's never heard of Joe and has no business relationship with Joe. Joe found him in the phonebook. Robert just assumes that Bill works for Joe or that somehow Bill is in on the deal. Robert pays Joe the $5. When Robert calls Bill and says "I'm ready for you to paint my house," Bill is very confused. Bill says he's busy. He lives in a different state. He only paints cars. He doesn't know Joe. Who's the bad guy here? Hint: it's Joe. I'm the equivalent of Bill. I'd really rather not get Robert's call. That call wastes my time and Robert's time too. Plus Robert gets really angry with me. That's unpleasant. Then Robert posts something on my facebook business page that says my business steals from people becuase he gave that $5 to Joe so that I would paint his house. See how it works?
