I have basically the same story as everyone else. I received my Bell South phone bill today and there's a $39.28 call to Israel which I know was not made from our phone. I called USBI and was asked if I had a fax machine and I said no we don't. Then I was asked if I had a computer and when I said yes, was told the call was made through the computer. Funny thing is, I don't use dialup and my computer isn't connected to a phone line. I have cable internet.

Bell South is also my long distance provider because I had to pick one. We use our cell phones to make long distance calls. There is no way our computer dialed ANY number. I called the FCC who told me to call the FTC who told me to call my local consumer protection agency who told me to call the public service commission. Bell South also told me if a call had gone through my phone line, no matter how it was dialed, they would show where the country code and number was dialed and there is no record of it.

How are they getting calls billed to our numbers? Years ago I stopped being able to charge a call to my home phone number from somewhere else like a pay phone unless there was someone at my home phone number to say yes, the charge is okay. I want to get to the bottom of this and after finding this site and seeing how many people have posted about USBI, I am wondering why none of the agencies I've talked to are aware of this scam! Please hook me up with everyone that wants to sue these people!

When I called USBI, the first thing the guy asked me was what my phone number was and I told him. The very next words out of his mouth were "Since you're disputing this, we will give you a one time courtesy credit. Do you also want a block on your phone?" My first thought was "How did he know the reason I was calling?" I hadn't said one word other than give my phone number!

These people muct be stopped. It seems like they are based in many locations.

USBI or navicomm? Which is it?..... I called USBI to verify the removal of charges...............

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 09, 2005

I just called the number listed on my phone bill for USBI (1-888-474-8724). The recording that answers definitely states it's USBI. I got operator #8002 who verified the charges have been removed from my bill (we'll see if that's true) and when we were hanging up, he says "Thank you for calling Navicomm." But I called USBI and I've seen the same number I dialed on other people's reports about USBI but not in association with Navicomm. Why would he thank me for calling Navicomm when I called USBI and all the recordings say it's USBI? Something is starting to small even more.

I am having trouble finding anyone that knows or cares about this. I called the FTC and was told to call the FCC who told me to call my local Consumer Protection Agency who told me to call my local Public Service Commission. The PSC took my info and sent a complaint to USBI. I see all these posts that say file a complaint with the FCC but they didn't have a clue what I was talking about and said that couldn't help. A service rep at Bell South - the 3rd one I talked to - was the only one who knew what I was talking about and only because this had happened to HIM. He said it's definitely a scam.

I will not be satisfied until I find out how that number was placed on my phone bill. Bell South verified it was not dialed from my house and my computer did not dial it, not matter how hard USBI insists it did. I have no phone line hooked up to my computer and haven't in over a year!

I want these people held accountable for the harrassment and hours of time they have caused me to research their obvious and pathetic attempt at a scam.
