USPassportNow Very misleading website. Thought the charge was for the passport. It was the charge for their service. This is not a government website and they are ripping people off. Internet

my husband was going to renew my passport online. he found uspassportnow.com and thought that the charge was for the government fee for a passport. after he gave them the credit card number he realized that he had just paid a $129 fee for their service and that the passport had not yet been paid for. there was no way to get back on the website to undo what was done. after calling the 800.881.0464 number and speaking with the person at ext 101 I was told that had we gotten on the website we could have seen that was for an expedited passport. What I couldn't make her understand or at least respond to is that if we weren't on the website, how did the fee get charged to the credit card? She said that an e-mail was sent that said you only have 24 hours to cancel? I explained to her that I didn't recieve an e-mail and let her know that we were unable to finish anything once the card was accepted. This service is very misleading and the customer service is very rude. We have called the credit card to dispute the charge and they are going to contact us with what they find out. I am also going to send a letter to the attorney general office regarding this scam. Again, they are very misleading, will not refund your money even when you do not use the service and the customer service is very rude and wants to argue.

Totally Agree, Do Not Use This Company!!!

Exact same thing happened to me.  They conveniently make their fee almost the same as the government fee and do not tell you that what you are paying is not the government fee.  They only have a 24 hour cancellation policy and by the time you figure it out they won't return your money.  I took a step further and and protested the money with my CC company.  The CC company said they charged me in 2 separate billings, one for $50 and one for $79.  You can only contest charges greater than or equal to $50.01, so I could only get back the $79.  You KNOW a company is a scam when they know the amount a CC will let you dispute and separate the bill so they at least get the minimum of 50 bucks.  DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.  Go to the .gov web page and follow the directions.
