USPS international express mail USA lost my pachage and does't care about it Newport News, Virginia

I sent my package from USA, VA to Latvia on 12/06/2012 .After 2 weeks no any informations on truck and confirm page.Called the company, they offer me to file the claim. In this package was Christmas presents to my grand children.. What claim can cover that? I paid 112 $ for sending this package , could I expect alittle better service ?
