Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I have shipped many thousands of boxes all over the world through the post office and have been mostly satisfied untill lately.  I often use Priority and I have had three shipments this week that were delayed (one still not delivered).

The USPS website advertise either 2 or 3 day shipping on Priority and even gives you a "Sceduled" delivery date (I am loking at the page now and have a copy below).  Nowhere does it say "estimated" or let you know that this serice may take much longer and that there is no gaurantee.

I spoke with the USPS today and was told that "scheduled" means "estimated" and that there is no gaurantee of any kind on priority mail.  That's fine if you advertise it that way. It's deceptive if you advertise a service as "2-Day" and give a "scheduled" delivery date and don't mention that in USPS world "scheduled" means "estimated" because in the rest of the world "scheduled" has a much more definate meaning. [continued below]....

.....

What they ae doing is deceptive and they just need to let customers know what they ae really paying more for and often you ae not geting anything for your extra money.   I also ship a lot of packages first class (interanational and in the US) and I find that service often gets there as fast as Priority.

If any other business operated in this deceptive manner they would soon go broke and be out out of business.  OOPS, wait a minute I just described the USPS!

Drama King?

AUTHOR: Scott - ()

WoW, Drama King??  Personal attacks just because I believe that the USPS should do a better job of explaining the services they are selling? Is someone out there going Postal??  Cliff is that you???

And yes I would be very upset if I got to the airport and was told my flight would be five days late (after all I am the Drama King!)

The post office should simply change their wording and make it clear that the dates they are providing are an estimate.  Just give the consumer the information they need to make an informed decision. What's wrong with that?

What a Drama King...

Seriously, out of thousands of packages you have mailed over the years you have 3 that have arrived after they were scheduled.  Where because you are using some warped definition of a single word they are all of the sudden deceptive and is going to go out of business.  Let me give you one piece of advice..cut down on the caffine.

Oh and why do I say your definition is warped.  Well let me just give you a couple of examples.

Say you book a flight on an airline and they say that the flight is SCHEDULED to arrive at 5:15pm, are you jumping down their throat and claiming some deceptive practice if it arrives at 6:15 or even worse they cancel it?  If that was the standard for the word "scheduled" you wouldn't have a single airline left in business.

How about if you have an apppoint scheduled for 2PM with your doctor but they are running late so they have to reschedule your appointment to another date.  Are you in front of their office picketing how they are being deceptive by using the term "schedule" and should really tell you that it is an estimated time?

When you schedule an appointment what do you tell people?  How would you like to be called a fraud if you happen to show up late because someting came up and you didn't say that it was only an "estimated" time.

No the fact is that to most people in the real world they understand that "scheduled" means that is when it is supposed to be..but things happen.  Now, if they happend to use the term "guaranteed" you would have a valid claim, but there is not one place on their site or in any documentation that you will see that they "guarantee" a package sent by priority mail will arrive in the 2-3 days.  But I would bet that even you would have to admit they actually do just about every single time.
