TXU energy = bad news. My wife signed up not knowing that we had a contract. I called the next day to cancel the request before they hooked up the service, then again later in the week to make sure it was cancelled. Then I got a suspicious letter so I called again, and they said, "oh we're hooking up the service today, and I can't stop it now or you'll be without electricity." Then I called to tell them their mistake and to let my original provider take over. Then today I get a bill, and they're still apparently the ones providing my electricity. Ridiculous. Now I've spent almost an hour on the phone with them trying to straighten it out, and I've been hung up on twice. The "customer service" seems like it's in India too, which is just dandy. I hate this company. I'm on the phone waiting for the 3rd level supervisor as we speak. The last one said that since they didn't have a record of my 2nd call, it didn't happen, and apparently I'm just making it all up. Please avoid these thieves at all costs.  Now they're trying to trick me into staying with them past the 30 day mark, so then they are able to charge me an early cancellation fee.  They have attempted to deceive me and steal from me even though I should've never had their service to begin with.  Is there something I can do?

So, after spending well over 2 hours total on the phone yesterday with TXU energy, I did finally get them to agree to one thing....to not charge me an early cancellation fee.  I'm still extremely displeased with every single interaction I've had with the company thus far.  The last representative tried to act like it was a marital issue between my wife and myself, since she signed up without me knowing it.  I felt that was just directly disrespectful.  I told her that the issue isn't with me or my wife, it's with the company not listening to our multiple requests to cancel service before it was enstated.  After a bit of arguing, she became helpful in trying to make sure I can go back to my old provider without the cancellation fee.  I may just have to be without power for a few days though.  I'm going to do my best to make sure that doesn't happen either.
