My wife and I bought a dinning set (table + 6 chairs) among with other furniture on 11/12/05 and the salesman promised us to have the table ready for pick up on 12/26/05 and all the other furniture (including the 6 chairs) for the 12/3/05.

We went to the store on 12/3/05 and we pick up all the furniture as agreed. The table remained scheduled to 12/26/05.

Yesterday my wife called them to confirm the pick up on next Monday (12/26) and they told us that the table is not going to arrive until 1/19/06 (that's 2+ months from the date of purchase). I called them again today and I was told that someone, when we picked up the other items, changed the scheduled pick up for the table to the 1/19/06. I called the corporate customer service department, they said there is problem with the manufacturer and there is nothing they can do about it. So different messages.

I think they are overselling products they don't have or they won't have for the scheduled pick up.

I was charged in full and already paying finance charges for a table I don't have and I won't have for 2+ months and there is nothing that Value City Furniture can do about it. I explained them that I am hosting a party for New Year's Eve and I was supposed to serve dinner on a table that they promised (it's on my receipt) would be ready to pick up on 12/26/05. What am I going to do??? Buy another table somewhere else and waste money, finance charges, etc.

I just think this is unacceptable and they have to be able to honor their word, if they can't keep their word they should not sell it, that's it, it's simple. But they get the cash out of our pocket, lie to us and don't honor the dates, and then wait a couple of months to get the merchandise ready. This seems to me like a bad business practice, it seems like someone is getting cash out of their customer and then, with that money, buying the merchandise they already sold. All of it, of course on their customer's expense and happiness.

I just want Value City Furniture to honor their scheduled pick up date. If they do not, I want them to refund me the finance charges I am paying and start collecting the money after they have the merchandise ready, and I want them to tell me what I am supposed to do with my New Year's Eve.

Thanks for you help.
