Value City Furntiure Store misrepresented and embellished warranty protection St Louis, Missouri
We recently purchased bedroom and dining room furniture from Value City.
The salesperson went out of his way to state the benefits of the fantastic VC furniture warranty. We declined but he indicated we had nothing to lose that anything and everything was covered and cited scratches, punctures and other common situations. He cited one example after another. We relented and bought the plan for both the dining room set and bedroom set despite our apprehension. We were assured that the plan would pay for itself.
After Thanksgiving we noticed scratches on our 3 of our leather dining chair seats. We called the Value City store and Lo and behold were told our scratches weren't covered and that we needed to call the extended warranty plan number for confirmation. We called that number and after taking the claim information and assigning us a claim number we were told we were not eligible for warranty repair and that we should try and use a leather repair kit.
The original sales person had stated that no matter the problem with the furniture this fantastic warranty plan would take care of it. Yet first time we used it we were denied a claim. I called the VC General Manager and he basically told us that they can't help us but stated the warranty was one of the best around and we should have read the extended warranty documentation (presumably in advance) wherever that resides??
How deceptive! This confirms my apprehension of extended warranties. Not very ethical of either Value City or the Warranty company they use. Needless to say VC has lost a customer because of their less than forthright and misleading statements.
