I mailed Vanderbilt Mortgage a rather "large" bank cashiers check to pay off a loan early, before due date. I mailed it certified with a return receipt. This was mailed on Oct. 21st, 2010. I received my return card the next day, showing the check was received and it had to be someone from the company, because they were the only ones that could sign for it. After waiting many days and no title, I called them. They did not have the check and didn't know where it was. I faxed them proof of my bank check, a copy of my certified returned card with signature, and a letter they had sent me with the pay off amount on it and the date of the pay off.

I was told to send the check to a certain address. Today I was told by a lady at Vanderbilt they don't have an address like that..as if I sent it to the wrong place. I looked at their web site..and the exact same address I sent the check is on their web site!

I have someone at my bank searching for this check to see if it's been cashed. So far, they haven't been able to find it.

Now that time has passed, Vanderbilt is telling me another payment is due with late charges!

No! I sent in the full amount " early....long before the due date". It is not my fault that someone signed for this check and lost it.

Meanwhile, I have a large check out there floating that nobody knows where it is.

I do not feel responsible for any payments or late charges since I paid this on time...the full amount. And I do have the signed signature that it was received.

Also, my husband was trying to talk to a lady at Vanderbilt today about this, and she hung up on him! He was being nice, and not abusive in any way.

Is that any way to run a business?

DO NOT under any circumstances believe Vanderbilt when you get the name of a person you are talking to. Even _IF_ they use their REAL name, they will deny it until YOU are blue in the face. They will even lie that "we have no one who works here by that name"!

If they tell you the sky is blue, you had better check for yourself.

I received my title in about 4 weeks. My suggestion to you would be to always make copies of anything you have to send to them, and mail things certified so someone will have to sign to get them, and you get a card showing someone signed to get what you mailed. If you call them for any reason, always get the name of the person your talking too. I hope you don't have the trouble I had...just trying to pay off my home. Good Luck to you.

Check Found, Vanderbilt dishonest

AUTHOR: PP - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Concerning the lost check I sent in to Vanderbilt to pay off a loan, it has been found. The check was mailed Oct. 21, 2010, sent certified and received Oct. 22 and the card was signed for by the person picking up the check.

The check " was deposited" and has cleared the bank on Oct. 25th by: the Mortgage company! All this time, they were telling me they didn't know where the check was, and it was "Vanderbilt/Clayton" homes that made the deposit!

Basically, I was lied too this whole time!! I was told since they didn't get the check, I would have late charges. They told me this.....and had deposited my check a month ago almost!!

I went to my bank and got a copy of this check, showing the front and back side, showing that Vanderbilt/Clayton homes made the deposit and I faxed it to a man I had talked to at Vanderbilt as proof.

The problem now is....when you call to talk to a person you have talked too before, they " aren't in" or they are " busy". They don't call you back either.

I have never in my life, been through so much crap in paying off a loan! This was totally ridiculous!

I paid this off back in October 21st, because I needed the title. Now I am told it will be 4 to 6 weeks before I can get the title even though they have had my money since Oct. 25th!
