On Oct. 17,2001 I purchased a 2000 Mistzibushi Eclipse GS with 12,810.00 from Vandergriff Honda in Arlington, Texas.

Since that very day I have had nothing but problems. On Oct. 23, 2001 I contacted Vandergriff in regards to problems I found with the car after the drive home.

Problems are to numerous to mention at this time. I was told by Vandergriff sales staff to take it to the dealership in Wichita Falls, Texas, which is close to me, and my warranty would cover the repairs.

I also had discussed with the salesperson in Arlington that my grill was missing. He said to have Brodie in Wichita Falls, Tx replace it and he would reimburse me for the cost.

After visiting with Brodie the next day we were made aware of the fact that the manufacturer does NOT make grills for these cars. It should be left open.

The only difference was that the horizontal bar on all other Eclipses other than mine was painted black. This brought a big concern to the dealership in Wichta Falls, and myself.

The assumption was made that the car was wrecked when purchased and I was not made aware of that. Brodie advised me that some of my repairs I had brought to their attention could be repaired but ones directly related to the accident could not be.

I contacted Vandergriff Honda and they advised me that they had no way of knowing if that car had been involved in an accident or not.

While all of this is going on I take my car to a car wash and notice as washing all of my paint on the hood and both fenders start flaking off.

I go home and contact Brodie again. At this time they tell me to bring it in and they will look at it on a lift to see for certain if it has been wrecked and extimate the extent of the damages.

The director of Brodie in Wichita Falls, Tx is appauled at the amount of damages he notices in regards to my newly purchase vehicle.

I immediately contact Vandergriff again and they advise me to bring the car to Arlington so they can take a look at it. When I do, they advise me that it looks to them like it was only minor damages due to an accident and the front had been repainted.

They told me it was not their responsibility to let me know if it had been wrecked when I purchased it. They said they didn't know about the wreck.

They now tell me they will make all repairs with the exception of the paint, which is the major problem, because warranty won't cover the paint because of the wreck.

I will NOT accept that offer. That car was misrepresented to me by the dealership. I EXPECT them to make it good. I did not want a wrecked car.

I did not intentionally by a wrecked car and I won't pay for a wrecked car. I purchased what I thought was a good used vehicle with factory warranted as well as extended warranty.

Some of which is no good now as a result of the accident I was unaware of at the time of purchase. Suggestions have been made to me to consult an attorney because what I thought was a reputable and of good quality dealership just RIPPED ME OFF! I'm not finished with this Vandergriff yet. Thanks for your time, Kathy Woods

Flawless Experience

AUTHOR: Brandon - ()

POSTED: Friday, October 11, 2013

I hate to see that some customers seem to have been treated unfairly based on what I have read.  I recently purchased an Acura MDX from Vandergriff Acura and I just wanted to share my experience with the rest of you.  I contacted Charlie Evans and told him what I was looking for and was immediately called back by a representative (names will be withheld to protect their identity) of Vandergriff Acura.  We explained what we were looking for and they had 3 different vehicles in which matched what we wanted.

All the individuals that we worked with were very patient as my wife and I asked hundreds of questions and even changed our mind on our needs from time to time.  They were also quick to respond to emails and phone calls at any hour of the day.  They never pressured us or tried to keep us locked in at the dealership by sitting us in a cubicle like some dealers we have had experience with.  After a few days we had made up our mind and told our sales agent that we were ready to make a deal.  They gave us a very fair value for our trade-in vehicle and priced the new vehicle very competively with the market.

We asked to have the vehicle certified since it was used and have a few repairs made to the vehicle to return it to what we fealt would be "show room ready".  They agreed to all the repairs without hesitation and we were in and out of the dealership with a loaner vehicle while they made the repairs within an hour.  I would like to commend Mr. Evans and the staff of Vandergriff Acura for treating us very well while we were there.  I will definitely be recommending all of our friends to the Vandergriff Acura team for their next vehicle purchase.

Funny that Charlie Evans should chime in, the new ownership of Vandergriff Honda

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 24, 2005

I just got back from dealing with Charlie Evans and the "new ownership" of Vandergriff Honda. I was trying to trade in 2 vehicles and buy 2 vehicles. 1 of them is paid off and the other is still upside down. Vandergriff wasn't able to get my payments where I needed them, so I was willing to walk away and try again later. Do you know what Charlie's answe to the problem was? LET THE VEHICLE I STILL OWE MONEY ON GET REPOSSESSED!! That was his advice! He didn't care about my credit, he just wanted to make a sale. I knew some car dealerships did some underhanded stuff, but this takes the cake. I expect some shady stuff from a sales guy, but this was from a managin partner and VP. Everyone I know will hear about how morally vacant this dealership and Charlie Evans is.

This company loves to rip people off!

AUTHOR: E - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 01, 2003

All of the Vandergriff dealerships are owned by VT Inc. It's a company based in Kansas that owns several dealerships in the DFW area - including all of the Texas Toyota Dealerships.

They are NOTORIOUS for being dishonest and ripping people off. How do you think they make all their money?

We just went through a situation with another one of their dealerships - Toyota of Dallas (check out their ripoff report).

I wouldn't give up. There is a great attorney in Fort Worth who has a lot of experience with car dealerships - especially those run by Van Tuyl, Inc. Perhaps he can help.

Don't let these guys win. If more people like us fight back, dishonest companies like this won't be able to pull this crap anymore.

Report them to EVERYONE!

While the victim is upset of the "usual treatment" of the customers given by Vandergriff Honda, perhaps she should be upset by another foul play on behalf of the dealership. And that is "forgery". The Tx Dept of Mtr Vehicle requires that the purchaser any used vehicle sign his or her name on the title in order for the title to be transferred into their name. Vandergriff Honda does not allow that to happen. Instead they willingly, and unlawfully forge the customers names on the Tx certificate of title, to transfer the vehicle. The customers are not aware of their signatures being forged. If this particular customer would have seen the title, she could have seen the "branded notation" on the face of it, proving the amount of salvage the insurance company claimed on the vehicle. Beware, Vandergriff Honda forges customer's signatures on other documents also. It's all in the day's work.
