Models from model mayhem and OMP beware of Vee studio Vince hobbs. Model Mayhem #38569 He is a LIAR, low life, and he steals time from models, agrees upon giving them pictures but does not deliver anything, lies about delivery claiming he sent the cd in the mail when he didn't, and in the end you will receive nothing. I went for a photo shoot with this jerk, and the moment i met him my intuition told me to leave because he would scerw me over--and it was totally right. I asked him if I could have all the pictures on a CD after the shoot. He said that wasn't what professional photographers did and that they will send you a few images that they edit. We agreed that I would receive a copy of all the pictures from the shoot..on a CD in the mail. To protect myself I didn't sign a model release. He was like "just sign it" to try to get me to just do it though I explained to him that I needed all the pictures after the shoot only then would I sign it. he also does NOT pay models and tries to get people for free--then of course...he doesnt give them pictures or money-- this is STEALING from people and he is a thief. I contacted him after the shoot, he claimed he'd send the cd in the mail but never did. I had my manager call him he claimed he would send the pictures but never did. I emailed him myself several times and he wrote back claiming that I was too demanding and that I demanded all the pictures within a month and that was too much-- total scumbag creep jerk thief and LIAR. Stay the heck away from this unprofessional scumbag he lies to models, screws them over and sends them NO pictures in the end--I will report him to the dept of labor for not paying people for their time-- he gets pictuers for magazine submission so that he can make lots of money off them and not give anything to the model including the pictures...total jerk, lunatic and loser...

another experience

I've known Vince for about 4 or 5 years, and have worked with him on several shoots.  All the photos come out great.  He doesn't just give you all of the shots, he picks out the best ones and edits them so you look perfect. That's how he works.  He is a kind person, and an amazing photographer.  If he is taking time out of his schedule to shoot you, you should  be glad he's not charging YOU.  He is a professional photographer that deserves to be paid for his work.  Be thankful for the opportunity to do a tfp with him!

not a professional model by any means and professionalism isn't lying and leading people on...

AUTHOR: Alice - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 07, 2007

people going on "TFP" shoots are not professional models...the shoot is not conducted in a 'professional' manner. I hope you don't think that someone worknig with an agency goes to shoots expecting pictures. There is no agent booker or manager involved. It is an exchange.. of time for pictuers.. those of you harping on 'professionalism' need to get a clue. It is not unprofessional to expect pictures from someone and to expect what somenoe's word is, but it IS unprofessional to lie to someone and claim that pictures were sent out through mail numerous times when they weren't. The only people that are unprofessional in this case are those who are lying to people or leading them on about how or when pictures were sent. If you expect trade shoots to be 'professional' shoots for professional models, you need to do your homework with regards to the industry and with modeling period.

The Difference Between Professional and Non-Professional Models

AUTHOR: Billj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 01, 2007

I read the above report from "alice" and it is obvious from her comments that she is not a professional model in any capacity. I have worked with Vince on several shoots here in NYC and also in Florida, and his work ethic is absolutely professional.

Vince has been involved in stock photo productions for many years, and he has been a photo producer and art director for me on shoots since 1995. He actually got me started in stock photography and it basically changed my life and career. I have seen my photos in ad campaigns for American Express, AT&T, and others, due to the creative vision of Vince and his knowledge of stock photography.

He has treated every model (we book then through various agencies) with the utmost respect and they usually comment on the low level of stress and how comfortable our shoots are for them.

Based on the above report, I can only conclude that "alice" is an amateur internet model (OMP?) with no experience on actual paid shoots and no experience in dealing with professional photographers. I don't know many models that have the gall to demand every image from a photographer from a unpaid test shoot, refuse to sign an industry-standard model release, post defamatory material about someone they don't even know, and consider themselves to be a profesional model with a valid opinion worth expressing.

Professional models understand that model releases are a major part of the business - and they also understand that photographers must give precedence to paying clients vs free shoots. You report says that you "demanded" to receive all of the photos from Vince within one month. I have been in the business quite a few years, and I have never experienced a model "demanding" pictures from me within a specified time period - especially from a free shoot.

Here in NYC the kind of shoot you are talking about is a test shoot - you as a model must pay for the test shoot, or the photographer gets some type of release to use the photos for him own promotions or shoots material that he specifically needs for his book. We all do these shoots to get fresh images for our books - MUAs, stylists, etc. The shoot typically costs the model $600-$1000 per shoot for about 2 or 3 looks. If you "demanded" all of the photos from your shoot with Vince, and he received no benefit from the shoot, you refused to sign a release, and he STILL gave you photos, you are one impossibly lucky girl. Instead of attempting to trash this man's reputation, you should be grateful that he is one of the good guys, and has bent over backwards to help you out. If I were in his situation, you wouldn't have received anything except an invoice. Then after you paid for the shoot, I would have your photos on the way. Vince is too nice for his own good.

My suggestion would be to show some patience, educate yourself on the business, and don't burn your bridges - because you never know when you might need this gentlemen's help for something. Life is a 360 degree circle.

hi no the complaint isn't fishy..

AUTHOR: Alice - (U.S.A.)

Just because you received your pictuers in a timely manner does not mean others can't get screwed over. Not everyone wil sign a model release right away because you aer basically accepting all rights to the photographer, without getting any yourself, and without having any pictures. The picturse were eventually delivered after someone calling this person several times, many lies, and many emails with lies. If a person is going to deliver a CD they can let you know when/where/what time....this person kept telling me the CD was in the mail, it was sent out, others who called for me were told the same thing and the cd was never sent out. I understand people getting busy, being unable to do things.. they can say.. hey im busy.. give me a week or two...I'll let you know when it's sent and also do not expect top priority when receiving pictuers-- but what occurred was a series of statements and claims that were not true...and were unnecessary, and I had to end up threatening the person with a lawyer, because they were making up so much crap with regards to when the CD was sent out. This is not professional by any means...and if you are a model who has had a good experience wit a photograper it doesn't mean there aren't models that have had bad experiences with them...as a 'professional' model in the biz that's the first thing you should know and understand..

I have had a different experience with this individual

AUTHOR: Kurz88 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 25, 2007

I have been doing business with Vince Hobbs of VeeStudio for many years and have found him to be very forthright, honest, and truthful in his dealings. The last assignment that I did with him was for a photo shoot for a CD cover. Any model who has done any type of PROFESSIONAL modeling is very familiar with signing model releases; if you are too stupid to understand them, then you SHOULDN'T be modeling. I received my photos on CD in a very timely matter and they looked great.

It is interesting that this is the only complaint about Vince even though he has been in the photography business for over twenty years. This person complaining sounds like a "dumb blonde" who doesn't know anything about business. The only kinds of models and photographers who don't use contracts are those who 1) are amateurs; or 2) are trying to rip somebody off.

Again, having known Vince for many years, I know that something is fishy with this complaint --
