I just had the WORST experience with Veritas Prep. I would HIGHLY recommend not signing up with Veritas Prep.

I signed up for a 42 hour 7 week course ($1500) via the Veritas prep website back in Sept of 2008. Since I had a upcoming wedding that I wanted to attend, I thought I would call veritas prep and see if I could postpone my class to January. So the rep that I spoke to, did just that. Only, he signed me up for the same course at a location that is 70 miles away from my original location. I showed up at the wrong testing center to begin the class. The center was "not currently testing" and I was turned away at the reception. When I told veritas about this, they basically told me that the test was no longer offered at that location and that I would have to drive 70 miles away (one way!) to test at this other site. I told them that this was not an option for me (since I am not speedy gonzales..) and that I wanted a refund. They said sure. I sent the materials back. Money never showed up. (they write you a check to re-imburse you) A month goes by, I speak to the "owner of the company" - Chad Troutine. Who is basically a 12 year old (or, had the IQ of a 12-year old) that suddenly figured out how to rip people off through a GMAT prep scam. Anyway, so Chad assures me that he will take care of this personally and that my refund will be processed asap. He assures me that he will call me the next morning and overnight my check. Chad disappears. I haven't spoken to him since. So I decided to call back for the 20th time yesterday(Feb 19th), I speak to a rep that used these words without absolutely no provocation - "Well, I'm not sure why nobody has called you but you have to be very stupid to think that we will give you your money back. We did you a favor and moved your class for you. We can not give you a refund for this now. Please stop wasting our time." When I heard this, I tried to complain to his manager. He hung up on me. I called back. He hung up on me again. I tried a bunch of random extensions till I got someone else. Asked them to find out his manager's name and connect me directly to the manager. They were able to do this for me. When I spoke to the manager, he began defending his employee and accused me of lying to him. When I asked him to pull the call to review it, he said he didn't need to because he knew I had to be lying to him. (This is the manager!!) Then...the MANAGER hung up on me! I called back...to see if I could speak to ANYONE about this...but gave up quickly knowing that this was going nowhere. Especially since the "owner of the company" refuses to follow through with his promises. I have left several voicemails on his phone and he has never called me back.

I immediately called my credit card company to dispute the charges on my card but since the class date has already passed, I'm pretty sure I will never see my money again.

DO NOT sign up with veritas prep!
Veritas Prep's business etiquette is VERY flawed and they will rip you off as soon as they get a chance!

I don't think I've ever spoken to a group of people in customer service that care NOTHING about the customer, until Veritas prep.

Veritas GMAT run by Chad Troutwine is real fraud

AUTHOR: VeriScam - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 05, 2011

I have been a tutor for Veritas company and can testify that the company misrepresents if not outright lie about its services. First of all, I was hired solely on the basis of a phone interview and then sent books by Fedex. Then, I was contacted by a guy called Scott who asked me if I have any questions. I had not even gone through the books but told him that I had none and was ready to go. I wanted the $30 an hour they were willing to pay. (I had taught for Kaplan who paid me $12 an hour; so, it was not a bad deal with Veritas. Thanks, Scott and Chad). That was it. I showed up and beeyessed my students (there were luckily only 3 guys) with my Kaplan techniques. I then learned that Chad had taught for Kaplan too and would not mind the Kaplan techniques. The books they sent me and give to the students are crappy and I would consider Kaplan materials a lot better. At least, they are the same quality -- good or bad. With Veritas, you get assorted candies and you would feel like a kid with a bagful of halloween candies.

My advice, having taught Veritas GMAT is this:  DO NOT PICK VERITAS, THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD

Veritas Prep and Scott are both liars and frauds, the madofs of testpreparation industry

AUTHOR: EX-VERITAS TUTOR - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, April 24, 2010

Scott, before you accuse others of repetition, be sure that you are not sounding like a broken record. Veritas prep lies about many things is common knowledge. If you want to create any credibility for your bogus company, answer these questions:

(1) your company claims that some of your instructors have been Harvard and Stanford professors. Please publish the names of those tutors and indicate in which area they teach. You know that you cannot do that.

(2) Described your '15 tests' in terms of who creates them and whether they are the same as the ones produced by other companies or not. Do not be wishy-washy. Give a straight answer.

(3) Explain why you pretended to be a customer and was dumb enough to post a positive testminonial under your own name-- SCOTT --in a google forum about Chicago courses and then removed the post after it was pointed out.

(4) Tell the audience how you train your 'tutors'. The video audition is bs. You now claim that new tutors have to be apprentices before they can teach. Another BS. Indicate where we can see those apprentices to verify your claims.

(5) Admit your Veritas 101 system is total BS. It is about asking your prospective tutors to go through your booklets and then quiz them briefly on the phone.

QUIT LYING AND DO NOT TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE MORONS. That you have created some good press is not proof that you do have quality. Madoff was famous too and had great press for a while. Veritas prep is the madoff of testprep industry. Shame on you, Scott and Veritas Prep.

VERITAS PREP LLC GMAT VERITAS PREP GMAT IS A SCAM SHAM FRAUD DECEPTIVE

AUTHOR: Veritas-Prep-scam - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 24, 2010

I have worked for Veritas prep and can confirm that Veritas prep is not being honest with the qualifications of its tutors. Instead of protesting and claiming the market report as false and untrue, Veritas prep must explain why it hires its tutors without formal interviews and ship them out to 'teach' classes. Anyone who thinks that the company can hire 99th percentile instructors by advertising in Craig's list is smoking some strange stuff. Veritas prep will not publish the credentials of its tutors because it does not do any vetting. I told Veritas that I had scored 700 and they let me teach. They paid me $25 an hour when they had advertised $100 an hour. I received the prep materials overnighted to me and was told to watch a video before heading out to the class. I was nervous on day 1 and hoped that a smart dude does not show up in the class. I was not happy to be part of the scam being carried out by Veritas prep LLC company owned and operated by Chad Troutwine and Marcus. I quit after 4 classes and the company was desperately pleading with me to stay on. I hear that they had to cancel the rest of the classes because they could not find another instructor to carry on with the training. It is true that Veritas prep is a fradulent company. Instead of asking you to call the company so that it can beeyes you on its claims is preposterous. Having taught Veritas prep, I would recommend against choosing Veritas prep for your GMAT course. Veritas prep is truly a scam.

This claim is 100% false. It has been posted by an individual who has posted multiple fabricated complaints about Veritas Prep, some of which contain personal attacks on Veritas Prep employees and some of which attack other companies:

The bottom line is that Veritas Prep's students average better than a 110-point score increase on the GMAT after taking our course, which is why we are able to offer the most generous retake policy in the industry:

Veritas Prep is a fraudster just as MGMAT is a scam operator

AUTHOR: Mgmat Victim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 10, 2009

My girl friend took the Veritas Prep course in Chicago and was totally insulted by the experience. The instructor did not show up on day 1 and the company hurriedly sent a substitute for the next session. The new instructor was totally clueless and apparently had not taken the GMAT. My GF is a smart girl and asked for clarifications on a few concepts. The tutor that Veritas prep sent was completely ignorant of the concepts such as LCM and the procedures for data sufficiency. When she called the company to complain about the experience and ask for refund, she was told to stuff it. She wasted $1600 on Veritas prep gmat course. I have seen the guides Veritas prep sent to her and they were pathetic. I had taken the MGMAT course and was cheated by the company as well. The instructor at MGMAT finished the class at least 30 minutes before the allotted time and had nearly 30 minute breaks. The total hours were supposed to be 27 hours but we spent hardly 18 hours at MGMAT course. Looks like both MGMAT and Veritas Prep GMAT courses are fraudulent ones and scam operators. I would strongly advise against wasting your time and money with MGMAT or Veritas prep. They are both cut from the same dirty cloth and are both unscrupulous fraud artistes.
