I have contacted Verizon Wireless about this problem back in 2009, they refused to help me based on there nonprofessional misleading customer service. I had signed up for the Verizon Unlimited Data Internet Card (back when the Plan was available). I had the internet card roughly about a year and a half before it was no longer needed. During the time I had the card I was on-time for every payment, never had a problem until the day I called up to cancel my service. While I am speaking to the customer service rep about closing my account or discussing paying the smallest plan available to avoid early termination fees, the customer rep brings up a great idea such as putting my Internet card on Vacation Hold for up 6 months (her sales pitch to me was they no longer offer the Unlimited Data card and if I wanted to put it on hold for up to 6 months to decide she can go ahead and do that for me now). I agreed to that service, putting it on vacation hold and the customer service rep clearly said to me "Okay, I went ahead and put your account on vacation hold." She carried on and told me, "I would then need to call back within 6 months to either cancel or pay early termination fees." I agreed and I thought everything was okay, but I was wrong.

The main reason I got the card in the first place was due to the fact that my grand mother was passing away due to pancreatic cancer and I was always on the road driving back and forth from NY to NC and the Internet Card was needed to run my internet business. After the passing of my grand mother and I was back at my home in NC there was no need to have the card anymore, but I was aware of the early termination fees. My main objective that day was to call and cancel instead of being sold on some vacation hold that never was put on hold and sent my account to collections.

I did not receive anything from Verizon at this time, not a notice, not a invoice, not a call, nothing. The card was obviously not being used because I was on a mutual understanding the account wouldn't work even if I tried. I did however, receive a collection notice about 5 months after that phone call to the customer service rep telling me my account was on Hold. Shocked, I immediately call the Bill Collector and he tells me its from Verizon due to early termination fees. I then paid that bill instantly, and asked if it was reported to the credit bureau which I was told it was, and I can ask to have it removed from Verizon. Verizon denied removing it due to the fact that it was My Fault that it was not paid. MAKES NO SENSE, Verizon's untrained lying customer rep told me I did not need to pay anything for 6 months and I get stuck with a bill which I immediately paid and Verizon is telling me its my fault. Verizon told me my account was never set on vacation hold, there was never any notes about it, and I had to pay the month off before it can be set on vacation hold. At least they told me this after everything was already done, and they don't have the courtesy to remove it from my credit report for their failing customer service to inform the customer about what needs to be done instead of TELLING ME, EVERYTHING WAS OKAY AND IT WAS DONE. Here's a tip Verizon, from a Business Owner to a Business Owner. Don't tell your customers about services you can't offer and don't tell your customers everything is okay when it isn't, can't even note an account.

I as the customer should not have to forego spending hours on the phone to sort out their billing system problems.  Nor the inability for their customer service/account manager teams to do their job.  The simple fair solution is for Verizon to take the ownership responsibility and admit they messed up.  If they had billed me correctly in the first place and not forced me to spend countless hours on the phone, we would not be dealing with this situation

Now that I am going for my car loan and I see this con company is making it that much harder I thought I'd share my experience with these frauds. Furthermore, Verizon refuses to remove it off my credit report even though it has been Paid in Full within 1 month of them sending me to collections. The account balance is zero.  This is simply not just nor the proper way to conduct business. Verizon Wireless is not out any money they have been paid. I want what is just in the eyes of the state of New York and the United States of America for this account to be removed at once from all credit agencies.
