I orginally signed up for Verizon Wireless's advertised "unlimited" Broadband Service about a year ago. I soon discovered that it was only the advertising that was "unlimited," and that there were various tiers of service with upper limits on how much could be downloaded. I selected what I believed to be their highest tier at the time (5gb per month).
My monthy cell and broadband bill for the last year has averaged between $200 and $300 per month. This is for one cell phone and one broad band modem.
Last month I received my monthy bill and it was for $10,000. It seems that I went over my broadband download limit, which is interesting since it was collecting dust in the glove compartment of my car.
When I contacted Verizon's customer service they agreed to take care of this obvious overcharge and that they would deactivate my broadband account.
They have since recanted and are now demanding $10,000 for a month of Internet service, and I can only imagine what next month's bill is going to be for my deactivated broadband service.

I had Verizon before switching to Alltel (shame they bought them) and their billing was extremely unpredictable. My bill on two phones would vary over $200 depending on the month with no changes in activity. No one would explain the charges to me and it was generally "pay or we cut off the phone and send to collections". After the third incident, I took them up on their offer. It banged my credit a little but I refused to be extorted.

Does your bill say how much you supposedly downloaded during the time in question?
