For the past several years, I have had a cell phone for my daughter with Verizon Wireless. Recently, she moved into her first apartment, and found money to be very tight. In the interest of affordability, on May 5th, she switched her cell service from Verizon to xxxxx (((REDACTED))) PCS, which gave her all of the same benefits and more, at about half the cost of Verizon. When she cancelled Verizon, she was not told that she would be billed for the entire billing cycle which went to apx. May 23rd. I called Verizon,  (the bill was in my name since I set it up initially when she was a minor) to inquire why we would have to pay the entire billing cycle when the service was cancelled more than 2 weeks before the cycle ended, they told me there was nothing they could do about it, and this was the way they have always done business. Keep in mind, after May 5th, her verizon phone did not work, but she was expected to continue to pay for the service.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was put on hold for 45 minutes until a supervisor named Maggie answered the call. I explained the situation to Maggie, and she repeated what the initial customer service agent told me "this was how they have always done it, and there was nothing she could do about it". I asked to speak to her supervisor, and she put me back on hold, which I waited another hour before a supervisor named Rose answered the call. Rose repeated the same information that Maggie and the customer service agent told me, except that Rose's solution was to port the phone # back to Verizon! I was stunned to say the least.

I have been a customer of Verizon for probably 6 or 7 years, and this is how I was treated~ amazing! I have also had service with Sprint, and they are great. I am currently with Metro PCS due to affordability as well, but when I cancelled Sprint, they gave me no problems, and prorated the bill, which is what I would have expected from Verizon. Please be warned when you want to cancel Verizon, they will not prorate the bill, and they will not tell you this at the time of cancellation. This company does not seem to care about it's customers and I would not recomend them to anyone. I would however recomend Sxxxx (((REDACTED))) and xxxx (((REDACTED)))  PCS.
