We Opened a new business in the fall of 2006. During construction, Mr. Rick Gonzales approached the storefront and wanted to sell advertisement for verizon yellow pages. He was given my wife's contact info. Mr Rick Gonzalez made arangements to meet with my wife. Together with My partner's wife they met with Rick Gonzalez. My wife informed Mr. Gonzalez that she was not a part of the business and no authotity to make any decisions but would be more than happy to take any information back to the people involved in the business. Mr Gonzalez agreed to do so but told my wife that in order to get a quote, she would have to sign an authorization form. She clarified with Mr. Gonzales that it was just a quote and not a contract. Mr. Gonzalez confirmed that it was just a quote and there was nothing to worry about. Signed the quote authorizatiin but failed to get a copy.

We did not hear form anyone again until we recieved a bill for 140 dollars in the mail. We checked and saw that Verizion had published an ad for our company. Since they did not have any information from us other than my wife's cell phone number, the published that. We called no one returned any of our calls until we threatened to sue. When Mr. Gonzales and His manager finally got on the phone with us, we were able to confront him. They then said that they will talk to customer service and would have it staightened out. Customer service called my wife and said that they had a signed contract and that we were liable for the charges. They faxed what they claim is the contract that my wife signed. They had made some drawings to it after my wife signed it. They refused to discuss it any further. Now their attournies are threatening to sue us. Normal procedure involves a design process, and prof approvals. None of which happened. We have recieved no benifits from the ad since it did not the correct phone number. The bill is now 1900 dollars.
Please advise.

WHAT Did She Sign?

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 10, 2007

It all depends on what she signed. If you have to request/demand a copy of what she signed. I never was real happy with verizon when they came in and tried to sell me. Most were ex-sbc yellow pages folks and would tell you how "their's" was soooo much better. That's usually true about having to have a SIGNED proof sheet and such. SBC published my ad in their yellow pages that was slightly different then what was on my proof sheet. When I called 'em on it they told me too bad, too sad. Luckily I'd kept the copy of the proof sheet. Anyway, after going up the food chain, they finally agreed to lower my monthly bill by 30% for the year. It was a slight difference, not enough to matter, but it saved me around $70 a month, for 12 months.
