Hello,

This is to present a complaint relating to some electronic products bought at a retailer in Orlando FL which prides itself on
displaying the brand SONY on the faade of its store.

On January 2nd, 2013 I had the misfortune to walk into this store just wishing to buy a backup battery and
memory card which I needed for my digital camera Nikon D90 (bought elsewhere).

The first thing the salesperson showed to me was a very weird looking memory card, a brand not known even commercially. He even argued that the card I had in my camera (32 GB 95 MB/S Sandisk, was a poor quality brand !).  I told him I was not
interested in this card he offered me, and asked for the SONY 16 GB 94 MB/S Card which he had on display instead. He first asked how much I had paid for my camera (and for the card I already had), before telling me the price of the card he handed over to me. It turns out this card he was selling for US $ 169.99, (a value of US $ 29.99 in Amazon).

He then proceeded to show me the battery he had for my camera: a generic DL 03 Lithium Cadmium which when he inserted it into the slot of my camera, wouldnt slide easily in. To my dismay, he pushed it in (forcing it down), and I told him my concern he would not be able to pull it out again. He came over with a screw driver and levered it out against the edge
of the battery compartment.  Thank God the battery slowly oozed out, and I was relieved it didnt come to anything
worse.

He then proceeded to show me a couple of Vivitar Filters (one Plain, the other UV), which because of the time I had
already spent on the store, I decided to purchase, thinking they would be relatively affordable (in comparison to a new lens). The filters sold, one for  US $129.99 and the other for US $ 99.99, (a value of US $ 8.99 each in Amazon). Then he shoved in a Simo Lens Pen, charging US $ 69.99 for this (a value of US $ 12.99 in Amazon). Asked by me whether this
wasnt a little expensive for a cleaning pen, he shrugged and said that was the price (and that he was giving me a real bargain). Not happy with the ripping off, he insisted on wanting to sell me a wide angle lens, which I didnt even ask
for in the first place,besides not fitting the camera, (having to use an adaptor to screw it on), which he started selling for US $ 500, taking the price down to US S 250 when I backed off completely, telling him I could not afford it.

What really is disappointing and totally disheartening, is that throughout this sale, I assumed the salesperson, Omar,  was really interested in giving me a good deal for my moneys worth, and me being a foreigner, I had no idea what prices to
expect ( I gullibly told him things were very expensive too in Norway). Everything happened under the unsuspecting eye of the Store Manager, who did not say a word during the whole sale, just limiting himself to look on in a bewildered way at what was going on. The bottom line is that I walked off with US $ 500 less in my pocket, for a total net worth of approximately US $ 60. A total rip off.

I dont see how on earth this people have been doing this sort of scam since God knows when, tarnishing Sonys good name and making yet more skeptics in an already skeptic country about its economy. How do they let them walk away with this criminal behavior? I hope someone gets them for good. The Department of Commerce should have regulatory bodies vigilant on overpricing of items, protecting the consumer, especially when other companys reputation is at stake, and shut these illegal merchants down for fraudulent manipulation of customers.

I hope my letter is read by other people before they walk into this dragons liar.
