Saw a business listed on a local Craigs list listing. I reached out to the email address and a few days later I got an email from a purported business broker rather than the owner eluded to in the ad. In any instance I had some contact with Vested Business and they gave me generic information about this supposed business. (I must say the deal seemed too goo to be true) Once I became actually interested in finding out more information they insisted I give them credit card information and join membership roles with a recurring monthly payment. I have looked into purchasing, bought and sold several buinesses in the past and have never ever ever had to pay to obtain information. Sometimes a standard Non-disclosure agreement must be signed before information is given and sometimes I have even had to sign an agreement of exclusivity so I would not go around the broker. But never have I had to pay just to get information. A good broker earns their money when they sell a property. They should be eager to give information.

Of course I understand the need to protect their client and that is why usually they will ask for a copy of DL when signing an agreement so they are sure you are actually Donald Duck or Superman when you sign on the dotted line.

Response to your premium buyer concern

AUTHOR: Vested Business Brokers - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 08, 2016

Thank you for posting your concern, as it gives us the opportunity to clarify. Every Vested Business Broker advertisement is clearly identified as being represented by Vested Business Brokers; perhaps you have us confused with another broker on that point. As far as Premium Buyer it was created for seller protection.  Confidentiality is crucial to serious sellers and although it is not a guarantee it certainly has been helpful in the confidentiality process.  At Vested, we understand how hard it is to build a successful business, and we do everything we can to protect the confidentiality of our business listings.   Although, this process opens us up to this type of criticism, at Vested we are committed to the best interest of our sellers and our buyers which is why our database of business listings and buyers continues to grow rapidly.  Sellers being comfortable that we are committed to doing the best we can to protect their confidentiality is worth the criticism for us.  Serious sellers with healthy businesses look for serious buyers who understand that confidentiality is crucial to the continued success of the business they may purchase. As you referred to Donald Duck and Superman in your post, although we are fans of both, they too, would not be able to have access to the confidential address of a business for sale without verifying their identity through their premium membership.

The fee of $9.99 is returned to the buyer when they purchase a business and may be cancelled at any time and remain a regular Vested member so they may continue to use the Vested site.  It is important that it is clarified that all Vested buyers have the opportunity to get the same information as a Vested premium member other than the address.  The buyer registration/confidentiality agreement does protect the seller’s confidentiality, the buyer and the broker---however, due to the seriousness of confidentiality when selling a business, on behalf of our sellers we added an additional measure.  Sellers are pleased as are buyers as it puts the seller in a position to engage a buyer with serious intent, and the premium buyer has the opportunity to see the businesses that are available first with immediate notification to their Vested Business Broker.  The premium buyer is also offered additional services in assisting them in finding the business that is the right fit for them, such as a custom buyer wanted ad that is confidentially distributed to social media networks.  I hope we have clarified our membership process and your concerns.  If you have any further questions, we would be delighted to speak with you.  Please call 1-877-735-5224. Thank you again for your posting and the opportunity to clarify and help you find the business that is right for you.  At Vested Business Brokers we have successfully closed on over 1,400 business sales and currently have over 220,000 buy side clients and each and every one of them is important to us.
