POSTED: Monday, July 09, 2012

All these complaints why can we not file a class action law suite.  They are walking a very thin line.  I would think the AG would be of interest in this case to shut these people down and prevent further humiliation and financial harm to consumers.  Class Action?  Where are the advocates (Atty's)?

Class Action Suit

AUTHOR: lallen - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Just curious as to why there has not been a class action law suit filed against the VIA Entertainment with so many complaints for bad faith business and deceptive business practices?  I checked several legal firms and it appears no attorneys are willing to take the time to uphold the law for consumer's today.  Very unusual.

I would strongly suggest all people that have filed complaints against this company organize and locate an attorney that is just out of law school that wants to make a reputation for him/her self and all persons that have been coerced, deceived and victimized get in contact with the attorney who is willing to take on a class action.

Power in numbers with a good legal advocate is the ticket with this outfit.  Time to hold the owner accountable through the pocket book and subject him from further future crime against people.   Put him into homelessness and poverty without a future.

UMMM NICE TRY, TALEX!

AUTHOR: Salvador - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 06, 2011

I wouldn't be too surprised if you're one of the illeterate F*$#$ in that Via Entertainment office!

Ummm let me make it very clear to you, because just like you say that "Via's Contract" is very clear... well, the laws of this country are very clear as well!

A.) There is no way that the kids are going to lie to their parents about a non-refundable policy. Besides, why would you suggest that Via Entertainment forwards the "Non-Refundable" policy to undenragers? Yes! That is what you just suggested! And if Via is doing this, that is strictly prohibited and against the law! Via is not allowed to go through these terms and policies with underagers! That's what the parents are there for! And my experience can assure everyone out there that we were not told about this non-refundable thing until the illiterate, Nick, got our money in his hands!

B.) Really, TALEX? Or whatever your username is! You want to come on this website and try and save your own behind by stating that no matter where one goes you must spend money on their services? That's right! There's the keyword, "SERVICES"! Meaning that VIA is simply running a business to make money off people in immoral and unethical ways!

The whole business that Via is... is to get people in, sell some pictures, and keep draining those folks out of more and more money! That's what my experience was! I was lied from the beginning as far as how much I would have to really pay is concerned! So do not come here playing these little games! I was not recently born back then, and you can sure as hell believe I wasn't born yesterday either, six (6) years later! That's right! Typical case of, "THE PAST WILL COME BACK TO BITE YOU IN THE @$$"!

C.) Finally, you should know by now that anything you do or say (and state in this case) can be used against you in any court of law! Now, this is NOT a threat! I will not bother to sue you six years later! But hopefully this motivates some new people out there to do so!

You stated that it's perfectly fine to lie in Via Entertainment's advertisements on the paper, right? Yup! That's what you stated! Well, let me just remind you that it is strictly against the law to do FALSE-ADVERTISING!!!! Any judge in this country would either fine you an obscene amount of money or prosecute you, depending on the amount of complaints that could be filed against you and the harm you've done to people with the false-advertising!

Are you really that ignorant to try and convince use, the people you scammed, that it was your clients that lied to their parents? Seriously? That just put you under fire for suggesting that Via only reviews policy with underagers and not the adults!

Then you want to try and say that it's fine no matter where you go and have to pay for pictures, right? So after all this heat you've been getting online as to how you love scamming people, you're pretty much suggesting to potential victims of yours, to go elsewhere that just doesn't have the complaints you do. Nice going! Proves you're not so smart afterall!

Oh gosh and the whole false-advertising thing! I've read about so many companies like yours and you're the only one that has had the audacity to not only pretend like a happy costumer, but to shamelessly state that you love getting away with false-advertising, because it's your way of luring people in to your scam! Yeah! Great going!

And if anyone out there wishes to sue them for a recent scam, do it! It's too late for me to do it! Six years ago I was ignorant and still underage! I should've done somehow what my mother didn't want to!

And remember that if you do decide to sue, this TALEX user has stated some things that will make them go down hard and easy!

How to REALLY Make it in Modeling/Acting

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 30, 2010

About 4 or 5 years ago, I was scammed by VIA Entertainment. Since then, I have learned much about the industry, and much of what I have learned contradicts what VIA tells their prospective "talent".

-YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS. Model Mayhem.com is a WONDERFUL website for models and photographers to network. What is popular among members of the site are what are called "Trade-For" or TF shoots, which are shoots in which no money is exchanged between the model and photographer; instead, the photos taken help build both of their portfolios. I've had many TF shoots, and my portfolio is quite professional-looking. Just because these photographers are working for free does not mean you will get bad photos in return.

LEGIT AGENCIES NEVER FORCE YOU TO USE A CERTAIN PHOTOGRAPHER. This should tell you right away that there is something fishy about VIA. And I recall that the photographer VIA madepeople use was not that good.

LEGIT AGENCIES NEVER MAKE YOU PAY FOR PHOTOS. If an agency is seriously invested in your modeling career, they will help you add photos to your port for free.

LEGIT AGENCIES WANT PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE.The whole "no experience necessary" is just not true. At least for models, most agencies want you to have a pretty decent portfolio.

LEGIT AGENCIES DO NOT TAKE JUST ANYONE. The entertainment industry is a cruel and rigidbusiness, andonly certain people will make it in the industry. I was rather shocked when I saw the other people that VIA had welcomed into their "agency". I don't care how much VIA told you that you will make $5 million in two weeks because you have "the look": if you are 5'2", 170 lbs, and have no experience...well...it will take a miracle for you to have success in the business. To do runway, you have to be tall; to model at all, you have to be skinny and have a nice face. These are the facts. Be honest with yourself: do you really thinkyou stand a chance in the industry, with beautiful and talentedpeople like Angelina Jolie, Kendra Wilkinson, and Taylor Lautner as people you potentially might have to compete against for a role?Because VIA will not be honest with you: they will tell you anything to get you to dish out money.

THERE ARE VERY FEW JOBS FOR MODELS/ACTORS IN COLORADO. I've managed to snag a few indie movie roles and a few runway shows here in Colorado, but if you're extremely passionate about making a career out of acting and/or modeling, you need to travel to the entertainment hot spots (i.e. California, New York). I remember VIA putting ads in the Gazette for Disney movie roles. If you were a casting director for a Disney movie, ask yourself: would you really take the trouble of flying out a kid from Colorado for a movie rolewhen you have millions of other kids in California who would also fit the part just fine?

YOU CAN FIND CASTING CALLS JUST FINE WITHOUT AN AGENT. The casting notices I recieved from VIA were downright pathetic. Using the internet and sites such as TalentJug, Actor's Access, New Faces, and Backstage helped find me bigger and better projects to submit my headshot and resumeto.

SCAM AGENCIES TEND TO TARGET GULLIBLE PEOPLE AND (I HATE TO SAY IT) MINORITIES. There's a reason for this: these two groups of people will probably not even bother to research the company, and many in these groups are really looking to make serious money, thinking that the entertainment industry will fix their financial woes.

And most important...if you are truly passionate about becoming an actor/model, like I am, do not let scam agencies discourage you! It is an extremely competitive industry, and you need to be able to develop a thick skin and a tolerance for the word "no". If these scam agencies are telling you things that sound too good to be true, well guess what? They probably are too good to be true! NOBODY becomes a star overnight, but VIA makes you believe it.There are NO shortcuts in this industry.

Just use common sense people. That's the long and the short of it. Don't let yourself be taken advantage of.

Hope this helps!

they are not the only ones to blame

AUTHOR: talex18 - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 09, 2009

I would first to apologize to all of you who feel you have been scammed, I know what it is like however I have yet to be ripped off from Via Entertainment...  I had a photo shoot with professional hair & make-up and my pictures came out really great.  Yes, it is true they do make you pay for your photos but you will have to pay for photos anywhere else you go and that usually does not include four different hair and make-up looks.  If you are someone who is really trying to make it in the entertainment industry you know that it doesn't come easy and you aren't going to be spoon-fed to the top!  You cannot EVER count on other people to get you there.

As far as the non-refundable part... they make that EXTREMELY clear to you before you sign anything that the photo shoot is not refundable so parents.. your kids are lying to you, so they don't look so naive.  I am sorry to be so blunt but the word non-refundable is pretty much every other word on the contract.  Those of you who were upset about the whole "Disney" lie... just like any company out there it is a way to get people in the door.  There are ALWAYS stipulations to any ad you see and read.  Would they get any talent if their ad read, "Via Entertainment may possibly be able to make you some money in the entertainment industry."  The answer is no, you would not. It's nothing more than an innocent business tactic.

I hope you all find some sort of peace in this message and know that you were missing some pieces in all of this.  I have had nothing but great experiences with them, and I am looking forward to a couple of upcoming gigs, and auditions that they have so generously provided me.

VIA got me good, too

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 07, 2009

Had nearly the same experience, though it was about three years ago. The names Nik and Brian do ring a bell.

VIA made me pay a buncha money for a "photoshoot" that wasn't...quite a normal photoshoot. One person on here mentioned waiting in a long line to get their photos done, and that same thing happened to me! Not only that, but yes, the make-up and hair artist was not at all good and the worst thing...my pictures turned out HORRIBLE. They made me pay 300 bucks to wait in line, get my hair and make-up done crappily, and get awful pictures out of it? So so angry.

DO NOT even waste your time thinking about investing in VIA Entertainment. It's a scam!

THEY DID THE SAME BS TO ME!!!

AUTHOR: Salvador - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 05, 2008

These people at Via Entertainment are nothing but a bunch of phonies!!!! When I first heard about them they placed an ad claiming that there would be interviews with Disney.. or some kids channel hiring teenagers.

So I called in and asked for information.. ironically they were too busy to give out any information over the phone. They said that some Nick guy would answer all my questions at the Disney interview.

When I got there with my mother (I was 16 or 17 at the time), they had like 3 or 4 other persons in there. So I thought that since there weren't that many people in there that it was a legit place.

Unlike John Robert Powers.. they have tons of people in a sales parade. lol. Anyways.. we were called in and I even had a professional headshot and resume on me. They were NOT happy about that.

As soon as this Nick guy saw my picture he put it down with my face down.. and said, "well.. this kind of a picture doesn't work with us! You'll need full body shots if you want to get hired by us!"

He then got up and went into his little ghetto files and pulled out some full body shots he had gotten of other victims. He then said.. "it'll be $300.00 for the photoshoot and I will waive $180.00 of the enrollment fee." He even said that after paying for this photoshoot he guaranteed me to have my first job within 6 weeks.

So I was about to say something to my mother about it.. but my mother right away said, "yes". But oh boy.. what a mistake!

My mother then gave him a $100.00 upfront fee and this Nick guy immediately like a complety uncivilized unprofessional yelled out for his obese receptionist "PEGGY!! WE NEED A RECEIPT!!"

So this Peggy woman walks into his little office in a flash and sits on his desk and writes us a receipt for $100.00. Ironically.. we didn't find out it was non-refundable until we handed them the money and we got a receipt.

He then said to be back in such day and that I MUST bring in the rest of the money! Otherwise they won't even do the photoshoot.

To my surprise when I went back there was like 15-20 people there getting their photoshoot done. Not to mention that there was a complete unprofessional woman there doing make up and hair for $80.00.

I did agree to pay for that make up and hair... but it was because I had been told that she was a professional. So I assumed $80.00 seemed reasonable to be paid to a professional.

She was NO PROFESSIONAL! She had only 1 bar of chapstick for everyone, in which she would continously poke at with a new cotton swab for every person! Not only that.. but she claimed to be a professional and she had make up and hair products from the dollar store!

No offense to anyone that buys from the dollar store.. I do too. But to charge $80.00 and claim that you're a professional make up artist.. and have those kind of products and 1 chapstick that's shared with everyone... hmmm.. I think you get what I mean.

Well.. then after the photoshoot they called us in to go look at our pictures. Oh.. I forgot to mention that when we first spoke with the uncivilized and illeterate Nick he told us that after paying for the photoshoot I'd receive the professional pictures.

But ironically when we went back we were told that we'd have to pay an additional $80.00 to get the pictures printed into professional shots!! Outrageous! That's when I definetly thought about it and didn't want to go back to pay for it.

So when I thought about it twice.. I thought to myself that I had made it that far and that I was guaranteed my first job within 6 weeks. Not only that.. but the $300.00 were non-refundable. So when I went back in to pay them the $80.00 to get my pictures printed and sent to agencies they came up with more BS.

Some Asian guy that was at the front desk told me.. "ok! To get your pictures printed and sent out it's going to be $180.00!" So then I told him that I was told $80.00.

He told me to wait at the front desk while he went out ... when he came back he said, "yeah... Nick says that our prices have gone up!" So I didn't leave any money with them. And that was that.

Then I moved to Reno, NV. When I moved I forgot to get my CD from the photo shoot I had paid for. So from Reno I must have called them over 30 times and never would they answer their phone or return my calls.

I must have left numerous messages with that Peggy! I would tell her that I wanted my CD shipped out to me because I had moved. She would always say that she'd pass the message on to Nick.

Never would I get called back. I even left nemerous messages until I had it with their ignorace! I called them one day.. and sure enough I had to leave a message and I left them a message alright.

I told them that I was going to contact an attorney if they did not call me back about my CD of the pictures I had paid for. And boy oh boy! Did that get Nick upset!

He immediately called me the next day and said, "YEAH! I GOT YOUR NASTY LITTLE MESSAGE YOU LITTLE PUNK!! I HAVE ALSO FORWARDED THAT MESSAGE TO OUR ATTORNEYS!!" Not to mention that he kept using illeterate words such as "iregardless" and "putted over the files" and many more!

Then I asked him why it was that he was barely calling me back. I even asked him if he was intimidated with the message that I had left. He just mumbled and said words with such bad grammar and in a way that proved him to be uneducated.

What he said at his defense was that in my contract there was nothing that stated that they would send something out to me if I were to move. So I totally agreed with him on that and I told him that I'd send out a prepaid FedEx envelope for them to send it out to me.

I did send out that prepaid envelope and I never received my CD. But that's fine.. they want to do bad deeds.. there's Karma to catch up to them on that later on! There's also a GOD that sees every single thing you do, Nick and Peggy.. and everyone else in that d**n office!

So there you have it people.. stay away from these people. And people think John Robert Powers is bad?! I know.. I did too.. but these people from Via Entertainment are of the worst!
