Victoria Discount Tires Unbelieveable This guy sells crap tires from a junk pile based on how the tread looks! What about the belts? Victoria British Columbia

Victoria British Columbia, Canada. Buyers beware of Victoria Discount Tires, my wife (unfortunately) bought some snow tires from them in December (2008) and had them balanced and mounted there. She noticed a vibration in the front end of her Van right away and took it back to them. They told her (without taking her front tire off) that the front passenger bearing was going in it, and that (them being the nice guys they are) they could have it in the following Monday and that it would be around $350.00 to $450.00.

Well like most hard working folk with three kids we opted to only use the van on small runs and use my truck as a main mode of transportation. Now the good wheather is here we are getting busy again and wanted to get the Van fixed. It was taken to a highly rated licenced mechanic today and he has since told us that the front tires on the van have broken belts and that was the cause for the vibration, (also the wheel bearing that was going), well it was fine nothing wrong with it the tye rod needs to be replaced not the bearing(and our mechanic took the tire off to check), .

Our mechanic switched the rear tires with the front tires and low and behold no vibration from the front. So my wife went to Victoria Discount Tires and asked him what we could do to resolve the situation. He told her we only guarantee our tires for 90 days. But if she would like he would be so kind as to throw our tires on his machine and balance them. WAIT STOP RIGHT THERE!!!..this was supposed to of been done already (by them) why would we get somebody who has already proven themselves incompetent to us as a mechanic and a tire guy do any more work on our tires or van? We are reasonable people and we didn't want a refund or anything just a remedy to the situation like maybe a pair of used tires that don't have a broken belt in them.

He basically bullied my wife out of the place with no resolve and she phoned me. I phoned them and being a business man myself figured we could maybe resolve the situation. I phoned and told him of my wife being in there just recently and he said he remembered her. I asked him what we could do about this and I got the same answer. I said but the work was never done right in the first place and we did go back there immediately to resolve this originally in December 2008. And we were told it was a wheel bearing that was shot (which it isn't). He said there's nothing he could or would do other than put the tires on the balance machine and re balance them. No this won't do I said, and he said that's what happens when you by used tires.....WHAT??? I know people that this guy deals with and know that he buys them from waste tire piles and bases whether the tire is good from the tread. I told him of this and he said I'm done with this conversation.......He hung up.

Nice customer service eh? Now tell me are we in the wrong? Maybe we should have had a perfectly good wheel bearing replaced by them and spent that money just to find that the tire was the problem in the first place? Sounds perfectly sensible to me.....NOT!!! This guy is nasty to deal with and should definitely be BUYER BE AWARE material. I think everybody in Victoria B.C. or everybody in the world wide web reading this should know about this......nice guy (yeah right).
