I also had a horrible experience with them. I've purchased my timeshare 3 years ago, and it's been impossible to get out. I was pressured to sign a contract, and i was also scammed, they never did what they promised. We must do whatever it's in our hands to put finish to those thieves!!! The Grand Mayan is a very nice resort; however, stay away from timeshare presentations. Don't go to the presentation to get something in return. Stay away from taxi drivers unless you speak the language. When you arrive to the resort, tell them you should expect your room to be cleaned. If the room is not clean, go to the front desk immediately and tell them to clean it immediately or to give you another room. DO NOT GO IN THE ROOM AND WAIT FOR THEM. Do not go to the timeshare to get free stuff. I follow these instructions everywhere I go when it's a timeshare. Stay away from Party. LET THE RESORT KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AT ALL TIMES. I follow these rules. My vacations turn out just fine each time. Also, stay away from scammers to buy your timeshare. They want to get paid a transfer fee BEFORE THEY SELL YOUR TIMESHARE. It's NOT TRUE. You must pay the transfer fee personally to the Grand Mayan, not the scammers. BE AWARE AND THEN YOU'LL BE PREPARED. One company is called Vector Marketing Solutions: 204 East Capitol, St. Jackson, MS, 39201. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. They want money upfront. It's a scam!!!!!!!!!! ANY COMPANY THAT WANTS MONEY BEFORE THEY SELL YOUR TIMESHARE, IT'S A SCAM. Be aware and be prepared

We were also scammed with a Mayan Palace Timeshare. They claim they don't misrepresent themselves. Yet the promises and the drinks ease you into signing. Once you've done that, you are screwed. Through all the other initials on your contract, you realize you initialled, that they don't misrepresent themselves. Now you are up the creek. We had 2 timeshares they claimed that Alliance marketing would sell for us in 3 months max. We would recoup the money we paid at the Grand Luxxe and would net out ahead of the game. Well 15 months later, I am out $30k and I still have the original timeshares. I have also not heard a word from Alliance marketing in several months. Plus I found out they are a marketing group, thus not legally allowed to sell. I have had to take a 2nd mortgage out on my house. All the answers I have seen from the Mayan on various websites show they are not at all interested in helping out. Do they not have a concious? 

The Mayan Palace timeshare resorts love ignorant consumers. Innocent travelers get lured into buying a timeshare and pressured to sign a contract that doesn't include any of the promises made by their salesman. People decide to buy a house or a car and do their research before purchasing one. However, no one ever gets up one day and decides to purchase a timeshare, so they have no idea about timeshare before purchasing one

On April 17, 2013, while in Puerto Vallarta, my husband and l toured the Mayan Palace timeshare resort. We were in PV staying at another timeshare exchange resort. We were given the whole sales pitch including how they would take our existing three timeshares in a very excellent trade-in deal. They first gave us a price on a unit and vacation time. When we were ready to leave, a miracle happened, a foreclosure suddenly appeared at greatly reduced price. We cancelled the deal on the 20th, notified Visa and also the resort itself to stop the charge. We have been in contact with numerous persons from the organization but no one seems to be in charge. We have gotten communications from the resort: "Let's make a deal." We are still waiting but not holding our breath. According to Profeco, you have five business days to cancel a transaction in Mexico. We are well within the timeframe allowed. Beautiful place, but buyer beware. No deal.

I had a horrible experience at Mayan Palace!! Not only was the presentation 3 hours (promised 90 minutes), but they DID NOT give us what they promised for going. They offered a 4 night paid vacation, and we got NOTHING. We received what looks like a gift card, and they told us we would just need to call the number on the back to book. When we got back to home and called it was NOTHING. Not a vacation, not a discount for a vacation...NOTHING. We called and emailed Mayan Palace, and they did nothing about it. They gave us an email address, which we have never got a return email on yet. (several tries). The people on the phone say that is the only way to be helped... they are unwilling to help Many people have been scammed out of money for attending a Mayan Palace timeshare presentation, so it could have been worse. I've been to other legit timeshare presentations, but this one scarred me. DO NOT GO...and if you do, be prepared for some super hard selling. They will change people on you 5 times before you can claw your way out of there.

I attended two Mayan Palace timeshare presentations while on holiday, to get the freebies offered, and both times successfully managed to resist buying anything.  But some of the tactics used to get you to sign are pretty outrageous.  Typical tactics involve insults (you are too cheap / too stupid / too afraid), keeping you three times as long as they said they would to try and wear you down, and in one case putting a "plant" in the room they left me in to "have a think about it" so he could report back on what my objections were going to be, thus allowing them to have a ready answer. And to cap it all, the gift voucher I got at the end of it was for a store that closed an hour before I was "released" from the presentation.  I imagine they try to target people who are on the last day of their holiday to avoid having to actually redeem any of the vouchers as a result.  I had the last laugh, however, as it was only the penultimate day of my stay...

Mayan Palace sales tactics are hardcore and they will tell you anything you want to hear to get you into the contract and keep you in contract with them. Im glad to hear that you were able to leave the presentation  without buying, that is a big success with the sales tactics they practice.
