Sent Viking Marine, Ron D $1400.00 (half down) to rebuild an outboard motor. 1 1/2 years and one absolutely nut job excuse after another I drove 3 hours to get my boat that was filthy from sitting out side that long. He said it was tested and running great.  The controls were installed backwards, 3 of 4 carbs had to bebuilt, lower unit did not work at all, trim/tilt did not work --- and that is just the short list. Had to bring it back twice to him (long drive!) and two more times to his son for many other problems an hour away. I ended up paying a real mechamnic $2500.00 to repair and replace the many, many things he did wrong. This guy is not right in the head. Just engage him in convesation and you will see. Think about it  ---- all that time just to rebuild a motor that he promised in 6 weeks. Week after week and month after month and he kept saying "just another week or so". Horrible, horrible workmanship! Therer is no way that anyone will ever recomend this rip off. Check the web for similar complaints. Remember, these complaints are like cockroaches, See one or two and you know many more are alive. Stay away!!!!

 There is a fundimental problem with letting people post complaints with no research or accountability. Write whatever you want, don't provide any proof, don't demand FACTS, Just Write WHATEVER you want.

I have no idea who this is, but I know BOTH through the BBB and the State Attorney's Office, we have NEVER kept a deposit from anybody. It is called "Fraud" and is against the LAW. We have, from time to time, returned a deposit, but NEVER kept one.

We average 1.5 motor sales per week, about 75 a year and this site has 2 UNFOUNDED complaints. We have NEVER left anyone "Hanging" on a warranty issue, IN FACT we just warrantied a 200 Mercury that had a VRO pump fail, DESPITE the fact that our written warranty states, "VRO Failures are NOT Covered under this Warranty". We rebuilt the motor for free because it was not anything the customer did wrong.

We have been in business for 36 YEARS and continue to build affordable, quality outboard motors. We have TONS of references, an "A" Rating from the BBB, and been listed as a "Business in Good Standing" with Dunn and Bradstreet since 1979. These are all agencies that DEMAND Facts before allowing someone to rant and rave endlessly with out verification.

Now you know who this is, Ron. The same guy that did wait a year and a half for the rebuild and still had to drag back to you twice and three times to your son in Ft Pierce. It never got right until I finally took it to a local mechanic and I was standing right there when he removed the carbs and showed me the missing parts in 3 out of 4. There even wasn't an air box to control air induction over the carbs and they puked out fuel everytime I raised the motor with a complete new tilt/trim system I had to pay $1400.00 for. And just before that, I had to replace the starter. The one you sold me died in less than a month after my last trip to your son. Ask your son about having to turn the contols around to the proper posistion. I even showed him the damage to my hull when the boat lurched forward and hit the winch after I gassed it when it was supposed to be in reverse. ASK HIM! He also had to replace the lower unit that never worked from your shed (or so called shop). It's been a while since all this but I dang sure can dig up the repair records of all that the competent mechanic had to do. And it was a lot more than sited here!

You claim to have all these rebuilt motors in stock. I saw nothing but piles of junk and parts of motors laying around outside your shed every time I was there. NOT ONE REBUILT MOTOR ANYWHERE!

You know d**n good and well that everything I'm saying is the truth! And by cracky, I'm leaving out a bunch more of this nightmare. It's my bad. I should have investigated you more. And BBB my a*s. Everyone knows what a waste of time it is to go that route. Fourms like this it what gets things done. I just hope I can save someone else from another nightmare.

 I have read this complaint over and over and have no idea who it could be. We build and sell about 70-100 motors a year and maintain an "A+" rating with the BBB. I just was made aware of this sight and was shocked to read this. We do have issues with delivery times from time to time, but we NEVER have issues with the product. We are currently 6-8 weeks to deliver a motor, and it will go to 10-12 weeks before it gets better. People spending THOUSANDS of dollars on a motor are more interested in the "Long Term" than "How Fast". We have motors that we are doing now that were built by other shops in "Record" time. We have been building motors for 35+ YEARS (openned in 1976) and continue to build great motors. If this is actually one of our motors one would HAVE to think that someone would have called us, and we would have warrantied any issues the motor had. I can ASSURE YOU WE NEVER installed a control box "Backwards". I AGREE with this "Dreamer", CALL me, ENGAGE in Conversation and see what YOU think. We have tons of references AND referals, that is the ONLY way you can maintain an "A+" rating with the BBB, and we are NOT "Acredited" with them (pay them money to be listed with them)...............             Not Believable, Ron Dvorak
