I ordered a Farmhouse sink by Whitehaus from the site. I received it quickly and the price was the best I could find. Should have set off alarm bells right there! In any case, the sink came and is undamaged so that's good. However, there are black specks of something under the glaze on the white sink. I'm not a picky person but for $700 I expect the sink to be pretty close to perfect. I contacted Vintage Tub by phone and was told to send pictures and contact the shipper so they could note the damage even though it clearly was not their fault. I did both.

The pictures of the defect do not show much as the specks are the size of a grain of sand and another the size of a bb. After sending the pictures I was asked for more pictures showing the defect. I could get nothing clearer and since they are close offered to allow them to come inspect the sink. They didn't even respond to the offer. After not hearing from them for 5 days I emailed asking for a status update. They didn't reply.

Finally, fed up I warned them that they better have a sink shipped out or I'd go to every public place I could and make sure their reputation is known. Finally I got a reply that they were working with Whitehaus to get the sink replaced under warranty. Firstly, I just got the sink and didn't buy it from Whitehaus, I bought it from Vintage Tub. Secondly, if Whitehaus won't honor the warranty it's not my problem. I could care less if they get a replacement, I deserve to get a non-defective sink that I ordered. They don't care, they're not replacing it. I'm just going to have to deal with the fact that I got ripped off and received a sink of less quality than I should have.

Don't order from there to save a buck. You'll pay in the end!

Dear Sir or Madam, if you had a warranty problem with a sink you received from us, I will personally look into the matter. Please contact me at 877.868.1369. While I cannot promise a successful outcome, I will personally review the facts to see if there is any way we can assist you. At the very least, we can give you guidance on how to best resolve the issue. Allan, EVP Merchandising, Vintage Tub and Bath

I am very sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with your sink purchase. Unfortunately, Vintage Tub and Bath cannot unilaterally extend or modify the warranties of the name brands we carry. Nor can we send technicians out to investigate every claim that is presented to us. What we can do, however, is make the best argument we can with the manufacturer when an issue does arise.

In this case, we presented your photographs and details to the manufacturer. They responded Attached is the criteria that Whitehaus uses to inspect fireclay sinks.  Any spot over 3/16 or 5MM is rejected as defective.  I enlarged the photo by 200% and I still had a difficult time seeing the imperfection.  This sink is not a defect and is deemed acceptable.  My guys spend an average of 5 minutes per sink inspecting and polishing them to make sure that they are deemed acceptable.

In truth, fireclay sinks are handmade and can, on occasion, have minor blemishes in the finish that do not affect the performance of the sink. If your sink had a crack, damage to the glazing and/or a bubble hole or some other defect that would or could affect the performance of the sink then I think we would have been successful in getting a replacement sink sent to you.

If you have a blemish that measures over 5mm, I will reopen the claim with Whitehaus and personally argue your case with them. Until that point, all I can do is offer to sell you a replacement item at our cost as it is our policy not to profit from the misfortune or disappointment of our customers.

I am genuinely sorry that you will likely find this to be an unsatisfactory response, but there is simply nothing more I can do at this point.

Allan, EVP Merchandising, Vintage Tub and Bath
