I started a subscription with Virtual Vocations on 7/16/12 for a $15.99 monthly fee. I cancelled the subscription on 11/9/12 and never thought twice about it. While looking over a credit card statement today, I noticed they never stopped billing me.

After making a few attempts to get a live person on the phone I settled for the live chat option on the website. A rep by the name of Holly was assigned to my chat. I explained the situation and after 10 minutes she said her system wasn't working and asked if she could email me a response.

After an hour with no response I tried a live chat session again and once again Holly was assigned. I explained that this was starting to feel like a scam and that I wanted to speak with someone. Apparently she obtained access and forgot to call me after the initial chat because she said she reviewed my account and confirmed it was cancelled. I sent her a screen image of the charges to my card along with a copy of the cancellation.

Holly then tells me this credit card is not associated with the email on the account that I cancelled but rather to another account opened on 8/16 (exactly one month after I opened my account). When I told her that seemed odd and that I obviously wouldn't opened two accounts she suggested forwarding the issue to tech control. I had no problem but did request a refund for the four months they billed after I cancelled.

She refused a refund and said she would forward this to the owner of the company. She also suggested I try calling corporate (no one picking up the phones...again).

I finally realized that this is a SCAM. I have filed a report with the BBB as well as with my credit card company.

Issue Resolved, Account Canceled and Refund Provided

AUTHOR: Virtualvocations - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2013

Ellen,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and providing us the opportunity to resolve your complaint.  I spoke with Holly regarding your account, and she said she had chatted with you and let you know that there was a technical problem with your account.  I'm sorry if our response was not quick enough, we make every effort to respond as quickly as possible.  You mentioned that Holly had not responded within an hour, which is because she had to wait for our technical support to track down the issue first before she would be able to provide a refund.

We have since refunded you the full four months of payments that were deducted since you initially requested cancellation.  I sincerely hope this resolves the issue you had with VirtualVocations.

I would also like to respond to your concerns regarding not being able to reach our customer support by phone.  As we are a 100% telecommuting company, our customer support person, Holly, does work from her own home as well and has a flexible schedule.  Our phone hours are 10am-4pm MST, Monday through Thursday, with our chat being the same time frame.  If Holly is tied up via the online chat, or taking another phone call, sometimes she cannot answer all the calls and has to return calls later on.  As you noted, you were able to get a hold of her immediately via chat.

All of us at VirtualVocations try very hard to make sure the job seekers that use our site have a great experience.  We have had very few complaints over the past 7 years we have been in business, and have always responded and resolved those we have had.

We also make every effort to work with boards such as RipOffReport and the Better Business Bureau to respond to customers.  If you would like to find out more about VirtualVocations, you can contact us via the following:
