Vivint's equipment was already in the house when I moved in.  I called to see if I could activate it.  I was told I could, on a monthly basis, with no contract, since the previous owner had already fulfilled a contract.  I paid them for the first month for monitoring.  I was told by three different reps that once that month was complete, if I did not want to continue, simply do not pay the next month's bill.  I did not.

Vivint takes the money out of my account anyway, unauthorized.  I call them back and they say they will issue a refund that will take about 7 days.  Two weeks later, I still have not received a refund.

In the mean time, one of the sensors stops working.  I call them for tech support on the non-working sensor and I am told to call back when they are not so busy!  I called them back at 3AM on a weekday and they then refuse to troubleshoot the issue for me because I requested a refund.  I point out that I never received that refund and they still have my money, so therefore, they need to provide me with service.

They send a signal that makes the sensor work for two minutes, long enough to get me off the phone.  When I called back, they again refused to help me because I requested a refund!  I explained that I never received the refund and it had been two weeks since I had been told the refund would post within 7 days.  I was then told I would have to call back during the day, when the billing department was open, because tech support can not resolve billing issues.  I pointed out that my tech issues were not resolved either.  Again, they refused to help me with that.

Called billing back the next day,  they said they had issues a refund for two months (why?) service.  I never received that refund and I never asked them for a refund for two months.  I used the service for one month.  I was on a month to month basis with them.  I was told, by the sales department, the billing department and the technical department during the beginning of my relationship with Vivint that since the equipment was already in the home, I was not under contract and could have monitoring on a month to month basis without having to re-apply, without re-running a credit check, without having to call in monthly etc...  all I had to do was either pay the bill... or not pay the bill.  If I paid the bill, they would monitor me that month.  If I didn't pay the bill, they wouldn't.

Since I did use the monitoring service the first month, why would I expect them to refund the first and the second month?  It made no sense?  And if they really did refund both months, then where did the refund go?  It certainly did not go to me.

So, billing department was correcting the refund and allegedly re-issuing correct amount.  Asked to be transferred to tech support for sensor issue.  Tech support again refused to help me because I ASKED FOR A REFUND.  UGH!

So, I am out a month's worth of monitoring, plus bank fees, because their unauthorized charge caused my account to overdraft and I have a sensor that doesn't work and they won't help troubleshoot it.  Not good, but not terrible.

I decided to call my bank directly and see if they could help me.  The bank rep files a claim for me against Vivint and refunds the monthly monitoring fee and the overdraft fee that resulted.  I decided I am done with Vivint.  I live, I learn, let it be.

Until... another charge from Vivint shows up on my bank account.  The alleged refund never showed up in my bank account, but guess what did?  a charge OF $3.00!  Seriously.  They charged me a fee on a closed account.  I called my bank right away.

This time my bank rep had heard of Vivint and stated that Vivint was under investigation for fraudulent activities with many bank customers!  This bank rep did not file a claim, as the other one did, but immediately refunded the $3 to my account and suggested I change my credit card.

With reluctance, I agreed.  It is an inconvenience to do this, but if that is what it take to stop these people, then that it what I will do.  I will have to re-learn a new credit card number, reset a PIN, inform all my auto drafts, and my online vendors and such, all because Vivint can not keep its hands off of my money.

Then I called Vivint to find out why they think the have the right to charge me the three dollars.  They said it was a late fee!!!  Just what am I late for?  They said they were still monitoring me, but my payment had not been made, so there was a late fee applied!

Now wait.  If you were refunding me AND you refused to give me tech support because my account was closed and I wanted a refund... HOW can you in HONESTY charge me a late fee???

I was then told... and never before...  that just because you do not pay your bill does not mean they stop monitoring you.  The monitoring continues whether you pay your bill or not, as do the charges for said monitoring.  So, if you do not want them to monitor you, you have to call them and close your account.  If you close your account, you then have to go through the entire application process again to get monitored again.

But doesn't it make sense that if I want a refund, that I do not want the service?  and if all those people I talked to told me something different, then we have a failure to communicate... or someone is being dishonest?

If I have an open account that is being monitored, then shouldn't you provide tech support?  and if my account is closed so that you feel you should refuse me tech support, then why do you continue to dip your greedy little fingers into my bank account?

But as if that is not enough,  to add insult to injury,  Vivint has the audacity to now ask for the equipment!  They want me to set up an appointment with them to give them the equipment that I did NOT get from them to them.  HOW does this make any sense???

They admitted the previous resident already met the contract for the equipment.  I had no contract with them at any time.  Yet they are now phoning me in an effort to force me to give them equipment I did not receive from them.  Wow!  Seriously?

Stay far away from these people.  Give them no information about you, your family or your bank.
