VMS Alarms who is part of Monitronics International has overdrafted my checking account. They sent a post dated check to my account which was not to be cashed till after Dec 4 which cause an overdraft fee , they did send the monthly fee back but I'm still waiting of the overdraft fee to be paid.

As of Dec 27th I got an email from my bank telling me that I had overdraft fee, quess who! yup, VMS Alarms has again cause my checking account to be overdrawed and cause another overdraft fee, which on top of that I had made a purchase of $4.00 which bounced and that caused and overdraft fee, I'm on SSD and it's has caused me a financial hardship, because it will take my bank about 10 business days to stop the payments.

So I called my bank and had them put a stop automatic withdrawal on my account, I complainted to the Better Business Bureau and made a complaint to my state attorney general..I'm going to call that Accounts Revelation Dept to get my contract cancelled. I wished I looked around on the internet first before going with this company. Their business tactics are a sham and unsavory. I will file a small claims case if this problem is not solved.

Glad I checked here

I got a call from them two weeks ago, at first it all sounded really good.  I was to have installation on Monday, May 7th.  I waited until 2:30 and called them.  They claimed that someone left a message on both my lines that they had equipment on backorder and it would be up to two weeks before they would get it in.  Meanwhile I did some investigating and found out that Ripoff Reports and other sites had many negative complaints about them.  Now that I know this I will take my alarm needs some place else.  Thanks for posting this information.  They can forget about me doing business with them where I will take my business to ADT.

You state that you all had fun in the call center and that it was a great company to work with. My experience with Monitronics has been that the only time you can get them to call you is if you withhold payment on your account. We have had technicians out here several times, been assured that all is well and in good working condition with our service and monitoring center, and yet this has to be the most shoddy alarm company I have ever had the misfortune of working with. Upon moving into my home several different alarm company reps visited with their sales pitch, monitronics was the most reasonably priced and they answered all of my questions with reasonable answers. Both my roommate and myself have worked in the alarm industry before, in monitoring centers for both ADT and SecurityLink, so we were aware that a 45 second response time is actually a bit long, but still within the realm of safety. On no less than 4 occasions has my alarm been activated, in several instances for over a minute and a half, and there has been NO call from the monitoring center. I don't know how you people can consider yourselves a monitoring company. Perhaps instead of having so much "fun" in the call center, you all should be trained in how to perform your jobs. To anyone who is contemplating purchasing an alarm, go with a company you know fulfills its monitoring obligations. Monitronics is an alarm company in name only- they sell you an alarm which will sound - but as far as monitoring and actually performing the duties you pay them for? They are worthless.

Way out of proportion

I used to work for VMS Alarms on Tollgate RD in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

I worked with a great team, an awesome manager (Joe, you're the man!), and all in all it was a great experience.

The pay structure is as follows:

You could choose to do hourly (You're an absolute retard if you do) for $8/hour

Or you could choose to be commission only.

You call the leads and pitch the promotion.

Here's the beauty of it all.  You don't have to sell them on it to make any money!

Just get them to listen to you, and have them agree to be contacted within 5 minutes to speak with a "technician" who will answer any questions they have.  If they ask the technician to call them back.  That's a "Call Back" and earns you $25

If they take the package that's a sale which earns you $25.

I had some weeks where I made $700-$800 and some weeks where I only made $300-$400, but no matter what we always had a good time in the call center.

As far as the f**ktards on here complaining about being ripped off.  Everything is stated in your contract.  We tell you it's a contract, we tell you about your monitoring fees, and we tell you about cancellation.  Just because you're too stupid to manage your finances does NOT mean this company is a rip-off.

I lost my temper with an ignorant customer and called him after hours and threatened to blow his brains out.  I was fired for this, lol.  I guess I had it coming to me, but if I ever had the opportunity to work for VMS again, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Alarm Co. not Financial Planners

I do apologize to Jan in N.H., but she signed up for electronic fund transfer. You cant set up EFT with out the proper paper work and signatures. This means when her bill is due, the money gets taken out with her full knowledge. It is our job to provide a working security system, her end of the bargain is to pay her bill on time. We can not control her income. Nor decide for her what she can, or can not afford for her.

AUTHOR: Jan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Well I tried to cancel my contract with them but they threathen to put a lien on my home and send $1600 to the credit unions if I canceled my contract. And I did as they asked about going about canceling my contract. How's that for doing business! But I finally this person who after screaming and yelling at him, listen to my complaint and got the matter settled, but if I have a problem again, I'll call this guy and ask them to find out what the problem is and fix it, I'm going to be very upset if I have any more problems and I will cancel, because I'm going to play these games anymore, but I don't think I will have anymore problems.

I just got a call from them and they said I caused the overdraft in my accounts and they could go in an take the money out and that they have a signed contract and they are in the right. They are #$%#%%##@#$, and they said they will send a statement to a collection agency and put $1600 bad credit on my credit accounts and that they are in the right and they will be a lend on my home. I feel I'm a victim here, I'm on Social Security and feel like they have control over my life and they are going to ruin my credit. I wish I could hire an attornery and sue them for taking money out of my account without permission. I don't care anymore besides my credit wasn't that good in the first place, but to put a lend on my home for $1600 for the 3 year contract. It caused an overdraft in my account and put a financial hardship on me.
