I was reviewing my home Verizon phone bill and noticed a charge for Vmail Direct in the amount of $14.95. My wife had already paid the bill so she contacted Verizon who directed her to Voicemail Direct. They said that we had ordered the service online but they would reverse the charge and cancel the $14.95 monthly service charge. However it would take several billing cycles to credit us. Well the reason I was looking at my bill is I was canceling the service as I had signed up for Vonage phone service. Now I wonder how I am going to be credited to a cancelled account. The company said that we had ordered the service and they had proof. They said that they require the consumer to provide information including: date of birth, mother's maiden name, a valid email address (where an order confirmation is sent within 24 to 48 hours of sign-up), and we capture the Computer's IP address for security and verification purposes.I demanded that they produce this information within 48 hours or I would report them to the States Attorneys office and the Postmaster Generals Office since I was billed through the mail. I have been scammed before and I am not going to let this drag out. I can already see it coming. I cancelled Verizon so they can not credit, blah blah blah. So here it is, don't let them get away with this. Report them at once to the States Attorneys office in Florida and your own state.
