I WILL NEVER FLY VOLARIS AGAIN

My in-laws were scheduled to visit us from MX for a month in July, to witness the birth of our daughter and help with the care of my 22mo son. We purchased the tickets about a month in advance. Suddenly, my father in-law became ill. A few weeks later he was diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 Colon Cancer that had spread throughout his body. Given 6 mo to live, with treatment.

I called Volaris, I asked to use the $1,254.60 we paid for the tickets for my husband and brother in-law to fly to be with their father, instead. I was told that would be no problem. To provide a certified letter from his oncologist stating the circumstances and that my mother in-law needed to be there with him.

Once all of the required information was submitted, along with the letter, I was told that only the $457.30 for my father in-law's ticket would be refunded. AND THAT HE MUST USE IT!!!

We spent thousands of dollars in care and visiting my father in-law during this time. This was money that should have been spent to support our tiny growing family, and to pay for our own medical bills for the birth of our daughter.

Our daughter was born 7/24/15
My father in-law passed away 9/8/15

To compare this to other airlines, my husband was due to fly to MX on American Airlines last Friday to help his mother with papers related to the death. My 2 year old son suddenly had emergency surgery Thursday due to a ruptured appendix. American Airlines has agreed to allow my husband to reuse the funds on another flight. They were so sympathetic and showed that they cared for their customers.
